Enrolments for Year 7 2023
A reminder to parents of current students who have a younger brother presently in Grade 5 at primary school, that Enrolment Applications for Year 7 2023 will close on Friday 20th August 2021. Enrolment Application Forms are available from the College Reception or can be collected by current students from the Student Counter.
Changes to the Department of Transport (PTV) Bus Services to Springvale
Mazenod has recently been in communication with Ventura Bus Lines and the Department of Transport (formally PTV) in regards to the provision of buses for our Monday 2.30 pickup. According to Amy Conroy (Department of Transport), it is not in the contractual arrangements that the DoT has with Ventura to authorise buses for a 2.30pm pickup on College premises. Her reasoning for this decision is:
‘As the bus network inevitably grows and changes, operators such as Ventura are required to make efficient use of all buses that are available to them to provide the contracted bus services as planned to ensure a cost-effective outcome and quality public transport network for Victorians. Recent upgrades to the network have therefore caused the relevant buses to either now be in use when they weren’t previously, or will shortly be in use delivering timetabled and contracted services.
Therefore, DoT and Ventura are unable to provide an early collection of students on Monday afternoon for the timetabled school services moving forward, as is the usual expectation.’
Though this Monday service has been operating for over six years and though the College was contacted by PTV in October 2020 in regards to what our finish times were and enquiring what our particular needs were, the DoT seems unwilling to review this matter.
The last date for our 2.30pm PTV buses was on Monday 21st of June and parents and students need to realise that this Monday service cannot be reinstated unless the community request a continuation of the service and voice their disappointment to Amy Conroy at the Department of Transport. Please note the following parking details for pick up and drop off at Mazenod College. Areas marked in light blue are for pick/up drop off. Areas marked in red are no parking or dropping off areas. Please do not pick up or drop off in Kernot Avenue or Murdoch Avenue or park in the staff parking areas.
