Numeracy

Our focus for Term 3 remains a focus on applying the concepts of understanding numbers and how to use them in order to problem solve across other Domains. 

We will be looking at the conventions of mapping by exploring alphanumeric grids as well as exploring the use of directional language and coordinates.

We will investigate Statistics and Probability by conducting research, collating data and finding meaningful ways to represent it visually. Following on from that we will probe probability using games and real life scenarios.

Following on from that we will use real life situations to engage with the areas of Measurement. Involving the children in practical applications of using the skill to calculate Area, Perimeter, Volume and Capacity.

And, finally we will bring it back together by applying the skills of operations and number sense by problem solving and experimenting with Algebra.

• Dedicated skill and drill sessions to practise and assist in automaticity of responses.
• Group work dedicated to building peer tutoring skills.
• Problem Solving/STEM focused sessions to put the taught skills and strategies into practical use.
