Co-curricular - Junior Sport

With Term 4 only a matter of weeks away, I am delighted to be able to confirm that the second half of the summer season will commence the first week back of the new term. All summer teams will return to training on Monday 12 October and train from 3.10pm to 4.45pm. Boys will need to make sure that they have their training clothes and equipment ready for the first day back. In the main, teams will follow the Term 1 training schedule, and this will be placed on the Team App and in classrooms shortly. Please be aware that there have been some coaching changes and therefore some changes in training times for some teams. All boys affected will be informed.

The season will be 6 weeks in total, with the first games being played on Saturday 17 October and for the following 5 weeks. The season will conclude on Saturday 21 November. All games and training will follow a similar process to winter training and games with regards to COVID-19 procedures. All equipment will be sanitised at the conclusion of each session and boys will be provided with hand sanitiser for training and games.

In order to make Term 4 summer sport possible, IPSHA (Junior School sport governing body) has had to place schools into regions. As a result, teams will play the same schools repeatedly through the season. This will include some internal matches and, in some instances, may mean that some teams only play against other St Patrick’s teams. While some may feel that this is not ideal, we must remain flexible in these extraordinary times to allow our boys to have the opportunity to play. A draft draw will be placed on Team App once all fixtures are finalised.

A reminder that Tuesday 22 September is the Junior School co-curricular sport photos day. Boys will need their playing uniform for the photos, including boots for winter sports. Head gear, shin pads and mouth guards are not required for the photos. Please have playing uniform including socks with boots cleaned and polished in preparation for the day. Boys will not be able to share uniforms, if you are missing part of the playing uniform, you will miss the photo. Parents are advised that they will not be allowed to leave sports uniforms at Reception in the event their son forgets his gear.
