How are we looking after our Wellbeing?

During these challenging times, as we travel through the ever-changing landscape of 2020, it is important that we take care of ourselves so we can take care of each other.

Ways that we can take care of ourselves include:

  • Making sure that we are eating health and energy rich foods and not just snacking as that is easy to do.
  • Making sure that we are getting our exercise, which at this time is limited to an hour a day, whether it be walking, skipping rope or even going for a run. Take the chance to clear our head, focus on our breathing, and let the exercise make us feel better.
  • Practice techniques in areas such as mindfulness or yoga that also allow us to clear our head and recenter ourselves.
  • Ensuring that we are getting enough sleep so that we can face the next day and the challenges it may bring.
  • Not spending our entire day sitting in front of the laptop – that we are getting up, stretching, and exercising in the breaks in order to change the routine.
  • Working on a timetable that allows us to take those breaks and gives us time to do other things that help us refresh – exercise, cooking, reading or drawing etc – something that allows us some down time.

With this in mind, we are very aware of the challenges that parents have had to face during 2020 – working from home, being asked to become a teacher and supervisor of their children’s education at the same time managing all of the other roles that they need to do.

With this in mind, we would like to make our families aware of an up and coming event that includes Michael Carr- Gregg  that offers tips to building Resilient Families. The event does have a cost involved but looks at developing the tools, knowledge and strategies to helping manage your wellbeing and building resilience in us all.

We hope this may be useful for all of us.

Brigidine Celebration Day

Over the course of this year, we have had to adjust our calendar on so many occasions as we have had to cancel or reschedule many events. Sadly, this has meant that we have missed our activities such as School Assemblies, Easter Liturgy and Athletics Day.

This term we would normally have our annual Brigidine Celebration Day in the first week of September. We have made a decision that these events should occur but acknowledge that they will need to be different given our present circumstances.

Brigidine Celebration Day will occur on Tuesday and have the overview below:

9.45 to 10.00       Homeroom/Mentor Groups

10.00 to 11.30     Video Presentation – Celebrating our theme of JUSTICE

11.30 to 12.00     Break for everyone

12.00 to 12.30    Introduction at Year Levels – Introducing the activities, how they will work and the process of submission of competition entries to the selection committee.

We look forward to sharing some of the entrants from the day in the next edition of the Marian News as well as what we have learned about the theme, JUSTICE and how together we, as a community, can still find ways to celebrate who we are as a community is these very difficult times.

Leadership Day for our Year 11’s

At this time of the year we would be beginning our process of selection of our Student Leaders for 2021. We aim to give our group of students enough time to prepare for the selection of our Lamp Bearers. We look forward to sharing with you in the next edition of the Marian News how our process is unfolding over the next couple of months.

Just a note to finish ….

While we are somewhat separated from each other it is important that we keep in touch, connect with others in our family or friends, and at the same time stay safe by following the expectations we have for social distancing, wearing a mask and staying home.

If by wearing a mask, we help to keep our loved ones and others safe then that is a small action that may make a world of difference for someone else. Remember we are all in this together
