School Council

Kii amazing TPS community!

If you attended the fabulous "Lockdown Rockdown” on Friday Sep 4th, I’m sure you will agree TPS is an amazing community of staff, students, and families, full of creativity.

TPS Council agreed to not meet in July due to the difficulties and stresses of stage 4 restrictions and reported Covid-19 case at TPS during August adding more stress to TPS staff. This is in line with DET requirements for school council to meet at least 6 times during 2020. We will meet again on September 15th, and continue to meet virtually. We have not met face to face as a council since the election. It’s a challenging way to meet and get things done, but we’re doing the best we can. Council continues to work behind the scenes during this difficult time.

Here are some of the key things we are working on:

  • Organising the Morning Tea for Culture with the Social Team and Aunty Terri. A fabulous fundraiser for an important community organisation, and a great way to connect within our own community. Thanks Mel, Yaz and Megan!
  • The much loved mango fundraiser will still go ahead. Keep an eye on Compass for ordering details when they are confirmed.
  • Uniforms: keeping on top of issues with suppliers. Choosing a new ethical supplier of our NAIDOC t-shirts, which are part of school uniform, whilst keeping them cost effective.
  • Finance: continuing oversight of the monthly finances.
  • Developing an information brochure for prospective families. Streamlining SC information.
  • Working with Darebin Council on traffic management issues around TPS.
  • Planning for some sustainability initiatives for 2021.

And more!

Ngoongodgin to our Social Committee for organising the Morning Tea for Culture.  A special thank you to Mel for hosting the event. The chats, quiz and jokes were lots of fun.  Thank you also to our generous community who donated to VACCA to support the work they do caring for Aboriginal children and families.  We raised $1140 as a community.

Our Comms team have recently updated our school brochure to give to newly enrolled families to TPS and to the community wanting to know more about our school.
