University of Melbourne Residential Colleges Virtual Open Day – 12 September

The University of Melbourne would like to warmly invite students and their families to attend their inaugural Intercollegiate Virtual Open Day on Saturday 12 September, 9:00am to 4:00pm. This date is one week after the Undergraduate Unimelb Open Days (5-6 September) where students can learn more about the degrees and career pathways on offer. Meet the faces behind each of the 10 Residential Colleges that surround the Uni of Melbourne, and take a guided tour of what could be your home in 2021. Staff and students will be on hand to answer all of your questions: What’s College life really like? What’s great about being part of a vibrant student community? Is financial assistance available? And, most importantly, how do I apply? Living at College is a sure way to get the most out of your university experience. Of course, the real value of College lies in the friends you’ll make, and the network you’ll build.

Australian Government Study Assist – Beyond School Study Guide

The Beyond School Study Guide is a useful tool for information about tertiary study and government help. Check out the factsheets on each of the HELP loans, different pathways to university, and compare what study might look like in higher education and vocational education and training (VET). Access and download the guide by clicking here.

Tax File Number (TFN) Required for Tertiary Study

Students will need a tax file number for starting work (part-time and full-time) and all students planning on a tertiary education require one when they start. Importantly, current Year 12 students are reminded that they cannot enrol in a CSP (Commonwealth Support Place) course at university without a Tax File Number, so will need to get an application submitted before the end of year. Students must apply for a TFN online and have their identity verified through an interview at a participating Australia Post office. To apply and also to find out about participating Post Offices, visit TFN Application.
