Chess Club

On Thursday 20 August, Chess players from McCarthy Catholic College played against Inverell High School to determine which school was to progress to the next round of the NSW Junior Country Secondary Schools' Knockout Chess Competition. Unlike the previous chess games, this time our players had to play against other players using the online Virtual Chess. 

Though our players did the school proud, the players from Inverell High School proved to be too strong. I wish to congratulate Elih Griffiths, Dante Reverr, Angus Christakos and Kerwin Richards who represented the school. We also had other players who also played against Inverell High School, so well done to Damon Williams, Emily Pring, Tomas McCluand, Kodie Pollock and Cody Turner-Bourke. 

Though the day was not ours, we will be seeking our revenge when we play Inverell High School again in the near future. The Virtual Chess proved to be successful with the plans to play other schools across the New England Region.

The players and I wish Inverell High School all the best as they progress through the rest of the competition.
