Meet our Music Tutors

Dorothy Lincoln

Anita Schleebs - Violin/Viola

The violin has been an extension of Anita for quite some time and her love of music has been just as long!  Throughout her Primary and High School years, Anita was always a member of the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra (TYO). Not only attending music camps in Tasmania, Anita travelled interstate to the National Music Camps. The social aspect of these camps was a great attraction but more so was also finding ‘your people’, those who loved music just as much as you.

Anita was a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra and Camerata Australia in 1998.

Whilst studying at the Tasmanian Conservatorium, Anita discovered an interest in teaching and a love for musicals. She started playing in the pit (where the orchestra and bands are located in the theatre) of many local musicals where you can still find her for all big and small local productions. Anita plays with the Hobart Chamber Orchestra and also with Strings on Fire.

In 2019 she joined the AUSTA Orchestra, a collection of string teachers from around Australia led by the infamous Stephen Chin, and the group toured throughout Europe. This tour was enjoyable of course but again the social side and the opportunity to play in some amazing venues made it very memorable.

Anne Boothroyd - Flute

Anne teaches the flute and leads the flute ensemble at Mount Carmel College. Since completing her studies in Music at the University of Tasmania in 2017 she has enjoyed teaching in many schools in Hobart and playing in community orchestras such as the Derwent Symphony Orchestra and the Hobart Chamber Orchestra. She encourages her students to enjoy music through learning the flute, playing music with others and performing. She also encourages them to apply the broader skills and values realized through pursuing music to lead diverse and fulfilling lives.
