Primary Hockey

The final round of Primary Hockey was played on Saturday as part of a special primary gala day at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre on the astro turf. The weather was beautiful and all the teams had great fun and enjoyed the wonderful opportunity to play on the turf.

The Quarter Field and Half Field teams played in the morning and enjoyed a post season gathering

at the Cornelian Bay Park to celebrate the season.

In the afternoon the combined Mount Carmel College/ New Town Primary Year 5/6 Full Field team took on St Marys in a play-off for 5 th . The team played brilliantly, working hard for each other and combining well as a team. In the end, it was a hat-trick from Hannah Mahmoud that sealed the 3-0 win.

Well done to all Term 3 hockey players.

Primary Hockey will return in Term 4 with quarter and half field rosters on the astro turf.

Secondary Basketball

Final matches were played in the SSATIS Basketball Roster last week. The Year 8 team had a great season, finishing agonisingly close to a grand final appearance. The roster included 10 teams, but with only 7 rounds it wasn’t possible to play every team. Sacred Heart Red finished the season undefeated. Both Mount Carmel and St Mary’s finished with only one loss for the season, with St Mary’s winning through to the final on percentage. The team, with a range of experience, gelled together really well and played some fantastic games. Some of the team are now looking forward to the upcoming High School Basketball Championships to be played on 17/18 October.
