Katrina Powell Shield - Mid Competition update
The softballers have had a tough draw, playing against some very experienced Softball teams. While we have not been victorious in the round games, it has been pleasing to see a high participation rate from several Year 12 students. This shows wonderful College spirit and that being part of a team is not all about winning. The playoff for 3rd and 4th will be on Tuesday, March 3 at French’s Field. A big thank you to Miss Siebert for coaching the team and to Mrs Judith Cottee for scoring the games.
Byrnes Shield - Mid Competition update
With wins in each of their round robin games against Wagga Wagga High School and Kildare Catholic College, the Byrnes Shield Cricketers played in the semi-final on Monday against Wagga Wagga High School. The team was victorious and will now play Mater Dei Catholic College in the Grand Final on Monday, February 24 at Bolton Park. Congratulations to Joseph Martin who took a hat trick in this match. This is a sport aspiration in the game of cricket and is a wonderful individual achievement. Good luck to all players and Coach Mr Michael Reynolds in the Grand Final.
Wiburd Shield Cricket
The Year 7/8 boys cricket team head to Shellharbour today at lunch for their next knockout round match against Shellharbour Anglican College. The team has been actively preparing for the game at lunchtimes under the guidance of experienced Coaches Mr Richardson and Mr Fuller. We look forward to hearing the results of tomorrow’s game. Thanks to Mr Begg for driving the bus for the away match.
Douglas Shield Cricket
The Year 11/12 boys cricket team have progressed into the State Quarter Final of the Douglas Shield Cricket competition with the match being played in Kellyville, Sydney against William Clarke College. Students will depart next Wednesday with Coaches Mr Reynolds and Mr Glanvill. The team will play the Quarter Final on Thursday, February 27. Mr Robertson - Rottnest Island Solo Swim WA
This weekend Mr Ryan Robertson will be travelling to Perth to swim the Rottnest Chanel. This is a 19.7km ocean swim from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island in Western Australia. He is raising money for his best friend Tye Angland, whose career was abruptly ended after a riding accident that left him a quadriplegic in November 2018. All funds raised will contribute to Tye’s lifelong ongoing care and rehabilitation as well as supporting his young family. So far Mr Robertson has raised $18000.00. If you would like to donate, please make contact with the College to find out more information.
Good luck Mr Robertson and what a great display of friendship.
Final Note
Sporting notices are delivered daily on the TRAC Notices Classroom which students need to ensure they are accessing and reading every day. Please ask students to navigate the daily notices at home so that important messages are not missed and preparations can be made. Each morning during Homeroom students have the opportunity to access and listen to the notices so there is no reason why messages should not be received and subsequent meetings and training sessions throughout the school day are not attended.
