Principal's Message

Will (3CF) and Mabel dancing for French class

Dear Parents and Carers,

Congratulations on navigating another week of isolation and remote learning.

It is important that we all take time to monitor our mental health during this time when we unable to do the things we usually can to look after ourselves.  The Beyond Blue and Be You websites have a lot of helpful tips such as:

 - Making time for yourself so that you are in a better position to support those around you

- Trying to maintain a routine

- Debriefing with trusted colleagues, family and friends on a regular basis

- Practising mindfulness

We can also support our children by:

- Looking for changes in behaviour - children who may be feeling overwhelmed by the current changes could be tired, withdrawn, irritable, fearful, unmotivated, moody, lose their appetite, need more comfort, have trouble concentrating and feel physically unwell.

-Supporting our children if they feel stressed or anxious - take extra care to notice and listen to children during this time. This will give them the opportunity to explore their emotions and reach out for help.

If you think your child needs extra support please contact Susan Williamson or Megan Smith on 9489 8333.

There has been a lot of coverage in the media about whether schools should be open to all students.  At this stage, the direction from the Victorian government has not changed its stance "that children who can learn from home must learn from home."  If we receive any advice contrary to this, we will inform you as soon as possible.

Please share this newsletter with your children, as it has many examples of how our students are working with the remote learning platform.  This is another connection point for our students and families.

Take care

Megan
