Notification of Student Absence

Attendance
From the commencement of term 3, all Victorian government schools must contact parents/carers on the same day of an unexplained student absence. This requirement supports student safety and wellbeing. Schools need to know when and why a child is absent, and parents/carers need to know if their child is not at school. Prompt communication also promotes daily school attendance.
We ask that parents and carers notify the school of their child’s absence as soon as possible on the day of absence, or before if it is planned using Compass (instructions attached). It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to input absence information into Compass, not the classroom teacher. The administrative burden placed on teachers to do this, particularly during peak times of sickness, is not reasonable and detracts from important teaching and planning time.
Should you be unable to provide an explanation via Compass on the morning of your child's absence, you can ring the office on 9489 8333 and they will do this for you.
We thank you in advance for your understanding.
