Spotlight on Year 3

Healthy Me

On Wednesday June 27th, we welcomed two members of our Parent Community to share their knowledge and expertise with the Year 3 cohort. The purpose of this visit was to complement the learning that had begun in their Term 1 Integrated Unit.

Sophia Richardson, an Oral Surgeon and Meredith Watson, a Physiotherapist, explained their professions to the students and provided some practical examples about how we can keep our bodies healthy.

The students enjoyed the audiovisual components of the presentation and were keen to ask questions and share some of their knowledge.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Sophia and Meredith for taking the time to enhance our learning.

Learning in 3HK

In the final week of term, 3HK were provided with the exhilarating learning opportunity in Numeracy to practice subtraction and addition using money in the shops they had created.

Among the stalls were Movie Snacks, Movie Rentals, an Ice cream Parlour ‘Ice cream Galore’, Food and Drink store called Brimbo’s (featuring Chicken Noodle Soup…perhaps Lee lee was an inspiration!), Book Store, Lolly Store, Toy Store and a Chemist (possibly to counteract all the sore tummies from the excess consumption of food!).

The students reflected on their learning with a recount. It was wonderful to hear the students praise their own abilities in creativity, mathematics and team work.
