TABLE TENNIS

Our A boys team led by Travis was full of experienced players and despite some close games easily won all their matches. The B team had less opposition and were even more convincing winners of their section. The girls had never played competition before but with some instruction and practice soon became  competitive table tennis teams. The A team led by Charlotte had easy victories and the B team despite only having 3 players put up a good effort. Well done and the A teams can look forward to a much tougher Regional competition on 19th October.

Magic Momment Summit

Year 10 and 11 students Devesh, Fraya and Rena were lucky to receive a scholarship through the Bendigo Bank to attend the annual Magic Moments summit. They went to NSW during the July school holidays and participated in a range of leadership and personal growth activities including public speaking exercises, trust games, networking and developing business ideas. Last week they presented about their experience and gave their thanks to the Bendigo Bank staff who made the experience possible.

I extended my thanks to Mark from Bendigo Bank and Cory from Magic Moments for the continued partnership in providing this opportunity for our students.

Year 9 MAV Games Day: Sport for the Brain

On Thursday August 16th, four of our keenest Maths students headed out to sunny Williamstown to participate in the annual year 9 games day run by the Maths Association of Victoria and facilitated by Williamstown High school this year.

Our journey was by train and we learnt the names of suburbs we didn't know existed. As we walked along the esplanade we looked at the amazing houses and thought how great it would be to go to school near a beach.

The Williamstown High gym had been transformed with table and chairs as over 300 year 9 students took their seats. The morning started with some team problem solving challenges and the gym was filled only with whisperings and the scrape of pencils on paper and calculators.

After recess the teams split up to compete in challenges against other schools. After lunch it was the team relay with students running backwards and forwards to the checking tables to get through as many questions as possible in the allotted time.

Thank you to Siya, Brynn, Charlotte and Pary for representing our school admirably and for entertaining me on the trip home.

Year 7 Girls Basketball Report

On Tuesday 4th September 3 Ringwood teams headed for Dandenong stadium for the district round robin.

The competition in both pools was a mixed bag with some games not very competitive and some games hard fought. All the girls represented Ringwood beautifully and the games were played with the utmost sportswomanship. The A team managed to win all of their games in Pool A to win through to the next round of regionals. The B and C teams came second and third in Pool B respectively. Although the C team did win the best crazy photo for the day!  A big thank you goes out to our coaching staff, Melanie and Georgi from Year 11, Jordan from Year 9 and Lachie from Year 8, for all their efforts in training, selecting, coaching and scoring the teams on the day.

Kick Ball

A home run was kicked on Wednesday (22nd August) with the first of many lunch time activities being ran throughout the year.

We had a great start with Kickball, it was great to have students come down and all participating and interacting with their fellow peers! More Activities will be run throughout the year which I hope we can get even more students participating in! Remember anyone can come down with any skill set and have fun, meet new friends and interact with fellow peers!! Information regarding the next lunchtime activity session will be posted on compass feeds and sent via email.

Cant wait to see you next time!!
