Year 11 Leadership Camp

For the past three days, 40 Year 11 students have attended the Leadership Camp at Dwellingup. This camp has a long tradition in the College and is used to further deepen and develop leadership capabilities and skills for students looking to take on designated leadership roles in Year 12. Led by Mr John Payne and Mr Beau Hemley, with session input from Mr Michael Anderson, Mr Michael Frank, Mr Tom Floyd and myself, the camp workshops include: Leading in the Spirit of St Eugene De Mazenod; Understanding our Mission and Core Values to Lead Well; Growth Mindset; Serving the Mazenod Community and Leadership of the Student Code of Conduct. Thank you to the staff who attended and to the 40 Year 11 students who were wonderful to work with during the camp. There is much to look forward to in the leaders of 2020.

The national celebration of R U OK? occurred this week. Our Year 9 leaders and student body lead the school every year in presenting resources and reminders to ask the question of someone - ‘Are you OK?’. This morning the Year 9 students greeted Mazenod parents and visitors with tea, coffee, juice and R U OK? resources and provided early arrival students with a cooked breakfast and a friendly greeting and chat. Well done to the Year 9 students and staff!

Attached below are some resources our students have been provided with to take the initiative when checking-in on a friend or family member. They may be of use in your discussions with someone.

Starting an R U OK? conversation? Use these four steps:

Health and Physical Education Week

This week we have also celebrated Health and Physical Education Week with many activities to promote activity in our day, incidental and planned. Thank you to the Physical Education staff for putting together the activities.

Safety on Campus

One way in which we work for a safe environment at the College is to register all visitors through the College Administration. If you are coming onto campus during the day, we are providing a gentle reminder to head to the College Administration to sign-in. In this way, we are looking after the safety of our students, staff and visitors by knowing who is on the campus. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

ACC Athletics Carnival

Next Wednesday our Athletics Team competes in Division A at AK Reserve at Perry Lakes. Congratulations to Ben Dupont, our Captain of Athletics and best of luck to Mr Chris Mason and the whole team. Thank you to the Physical Education staff for the excellent preparation of the team.

Enjoy your week ahead.
