POSITIVE BEHAVIOR FOR LEARNING
As a PBL (Positive Behaviour Learning) school, LIHS rewards students who are respectful, responsible and safe in every setting. PBL promotes positive behaviour in learning.

Students of LIHS throughout 2019 have displayed many examples of their achievements in a variety of ways through exhibitions and performances both inside and outside the school. These successes are again a reflection of how LIHS students are influenced by technology and resilience development.
How does the PBL reward system work?
Vivo Miles is a point based system where students are rewarded on a FAST and FREQUENT basis for positive behaviours.
- HOW DO I EARN VIVO POINTS?
For following the school values

- Representing the school (debating, Science Fair, Tournament of Minds, Peer support, SRC, Southern Stars etc.)
- Representing the school in Sport
- Top 5 in any test, assignment, assessment task. Consistent personal best
- Exceptional achievement: Monitoring with 6+ above averages, Attendance 100% in a term, End of year Presentation Awards, Principal Awards, ROSE Award, Year Advisor Awards, 1st or 2nd place in subject, Scholarships, State representatives, Australian representative
School Medal
To obtain a LIHS School Medal 6 250 Vivo points are required along with an application submitted to the Principal, Deputy Principal and Year Advisor of their year group. Students are required to meet the criteria below:
- Wearing excellent uniform
- Epitomising the school values
- Having excellent attendance above 90%
- Having participated in leadership or school service
Students will submit their resume and portfolio as part of their application. Portfolio consists of awards in and outside of school.

Vivo Reward
Bonus Vivo points have been awarded to:
Justin Costa, Hayden McCullogh and Colby Wyatt.
These students have shone as reliable great citizens of Lake Illawarra High School when they stepped up to work voluntarily on various community projects.
Special mention is given to Year 11 Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways Class: Nathan Brown, Kyphen Mostyn-Davey, Jessica Hilton, Nathaniel Dungey, Zachary Clayton-Brown, Ky Rallings, Thomas Blanch, Lachlan Mason and Justin Hetherington for their efforts in maintaining our physical school environment and constructing a number of animal shelters.
Our values can be shown in many ways within the school community.
It is these actions of our students we, as a school, are proud of and wish to acknowledge.
LIHS staff would like to congratulate Year 10 student Kiara Watts, Year 12 students Bilyana Mikevski. and Macey Cerasani for attaining 4 000 Vivo reward tickets. For this Bilyana, Macey and Kiara received an iPad.

PBL Rewards Afternoon
Week 9 saw fifty students from years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 rewarded with a free movie voucher and refreshments for being safe, responsible and respectful learners this semester.
It is these actions of our students we, as a school, are proud of and wish to acknowledge.
Student Representative Council and Sports Committee Reward Day
The following members of LIHS Student Representative Council and Sports Committee were given the opportunity to attend Sydney’s Raging Waters Theme Park on Tuesday the 10th December for their efforts through out 2019.
Students who participated were: Lilli Anger, Alyssa Bazzano, Tyler Fletcher, Jacinta Bazzano, Andre Tauteka, Chantelle Borg, Lachlan Moosmann, Logan O’Sullivan, Kasey Yates, Tahni Anger, Marina-Lee Bellef, Jennifer Grujevski, Rhiana McDonald, Brody Mitchell, Max Brislane, Hayden Chalmers, Brianna Kerr, Karl Amitlogit, Ruben Anthony and Christian Milevski.
Second Semester Rewards Day
On Friday of Week 9, over 100 selected students from years 7, 8, 9 and 10 were invited to attend Jamberoo Recreation Park as a rewards excursion for exemplary conduct throughout 2019. Congratulations goes out to all those invited for consistently demonstrating Lake Illawarra High’s core values of Respect, Responsibility and Safety.

PBL Focus Week 10: Safety and Responsibility during the holidays. We are safe on holidays by using sunscreen and show responsibility by being aware of our surroundings.
Students will be extra alert during the holiday season. Be sun smart by using sunscreen, slapping on a hat, sliding on sunglasses and seeking shade. Respect the water. Travel and party safely.
