Administration Matters
We have an exciting few weeks left of term with some fabulous events scheduled. There is our Term 2 Music Night on Wednesday 12 June, Grandparents Day on Friday 14 June, 'Beyond ELC' Information session with our Head of Schools, Mike Potter, for our Pre-School families on Wednesday 19 June, and we will wrap it all up with our bi-annual whole school Barn Dance event on Friday of Week 9, 28 June 2019. We will all be ready for a two week break once we've got through this!
Flyers for the Bush Dance are coming home tonight with an RSVP. We hope to see you all here for a great evening from 5:00pm to enjoy the Petting Zoo with Farmer Darcy, dinner provided and a whole heap of fun with live band, The Matildas, from 7:00pm as we heel and toe, heel and toe our way through the night!
Pedal Prix
An enormous thank you to Mr Schulz and Mrs Hansen for the hours this week that they poured into their Pedal Prix fundraiser - Donut Drive. With over 720 donuts ordered, they amazed us all with their timely delivery to every student by lunchtime. Thank you to all who supported the cause. The funds raised will go towards the maintenance and development of the two Pedal Prix cars.
We have two Pedal Prix teams this year with two cars, with the team's first race scheduled in Adelaide on Sunday 16 June 2019.
We couldn't run this program without the generous support of a number of local businesses with their sponsorship so we say thank to the following:
Mt Compass IGA, Strathalbyn Mitre 10, Strathfield Motors, Roger Kiddell Plumbing, Strathalbyn Amcal Pharmacy, Maidments Meats, Strathalbyn Woolworths.
Please support these businesses where you can and don't forget to thank them for the part they played in our Pedal Prix team. I'm sure they'll appreciate it.
Grandparents Day - Volunteers needed
Friday 14 June 2019 is an exciting day for our ELC to Year 9 students where over 250 grandparents, or special family friends in the absence of grandparents, will come for a special morning to visit the classes and enjoy a scrumptious morning tea, with much of the food provided by our Secondary Home Ec students.
A day as big as this needs a range of parent help so if you are part of our approved Volunteer base and are available from 8:00am to 11:30am on Friday 14 June, please be in touch with me as I look to fill the many roles on the day. Help is needed in welcoming our guests, directing in the car park, assisting guests to classes, serving tea & coffee, setting up chairs and tables and the pack down.
Be in touch with me if you have any time to spare or just need further clarification on the help needed.
Woolworths Earn & Learn
Many thanks to all our families who are collecting the Earn & Learn stickers. Keep them coming in. Science resources for the Early Learning Centre, Primary and Secondary school will be purchased with the value that we receive from the stickers collected.
Sponsor Child
We received news last week that the child we had been sponsoring for over 10 years through Compassion Australia, Marcella Regina from Indonesia, had now left the sponsorship program. Compassion Australia thanked you all for your generous support of her over this time through your gold coin donations on Casual Clothes days.
As I looked at the donations that came in on casual clothes days over the last 12 months, I could see that we were able to not only replace Marcella with another sponsor child, but add a second child to our outreach.
In an effort to connect with the children we sponsor, we have selected a young girl, Ramata, from Burkina Faso (West Africa) as this is a French speaking country. This will provide an opportunity for our students to put their french writing skills into action as we communicate regularly with her. Our second child is a teenage boy from Sri Lanka, Roshan. We have chosen Roshan as we have students that join our Tyndale Salisbury East team each year and travel to Sri Lanka as part of our Mission trip program.

Please familiarise yourself with this Policy if at anytime you are taking photos at an event adn are wondering how and where you can share them.
Entertainment Book 2019/20
The Entertainment Books were sent home last week giving you the opportunity to browse through them. $14 per book/digital membership goes to support the School. This year we will use the funds raised to buy Science resources, adding to the Woolworths Earn & Learn promotion, to get more STEM resources across the whole school.
If you would like to purchase the book, please keep the book and return the white sheet enclosed with payment details or follow the instructions and purchase online. If you would prefer the Digital version, as I do, then return the book and purchase your digital Entertainment Book membership online. If you need an extra Book for a family member or friend, let me know and we can send another one home. We have a few spares.
If you do not need the Entertainment Book, please return it ASAP
How early is too early?
It is fantastic to see students at school early and enthusiastic about the day ahead. Can I just advise parents, that a member of staff is not on duty for supervision of the yard and playground until 8:15am. If your child arrives earlier than this, they will be asked to wait in our Student Services office until the morning duty commences to ensure their safety.
Have a wonderful rest of your week.

Canteen - Secondary students
We have had a growing number of Secondary students during the colder mornings, requesting their lunches to be warmed up. We love that our students are bringing healthy food to school for lunches and would be very happy to provide this service through our Canteen.
As of Monday, any Secondary students looking to have their lunch warmed up MUST bring it to Mandy in the Canteen at the start of a school day. The lunch must be provided in a named container that is suitable for microwaving and will be kept in the Canteen fridge.
A minimal charge of 50c will apply for this service. Payment must be made on the day.
