Year 12 Drama Night
This week we were treated to brilliant performances from our senior Drama students. The evening opened with “Sins of the Mother”, a harsh and profound story of a dysfunctional family coping with the pressures of alcoholism, bitterness and resentment.
Performances by the cast, Sharna Begg, Bailey Garwood, Charlee Hoff, Keryn Hull and Amelia Rooney, were outstanding. They were all of “professional” standard. The power of dialogue and stage presence, the depth of emotion, the pace of action and the complexity of character engagement were far beyond what might be expected in a school production.
After interval the audience was treated to a brilliantly performed comedy, “Box and Cox” presented by Angus Hoff, Alex Paech and Jeremiah Davids. The humour, pace of action and delightful twists in the plot left the audience in utter delight.
Congratulations to Mr Colley for his inspired directing and teaching. And a huge “thank you” to the parents who have supported the production so strongly from behind the scenes.
Forthcoming events:
Grandparents Day
We are all looking forward to Grandparents Day on Friday 14 June. It is a very special annual event where our students are thrilled to share their classroom and general school life with their grandparents. It is always a delightful occasion.
Barn Dance
Our annual Barn Dance is always a great night for young and old. We’re looking forward to another amazing show on Friday 28 June in the Gymnasium. Add it to your calendar and stay tuned for details.
Pedal Prix
Our Pedal Prix teams are in full preparation for the annual Pedal Prix carnival at Victoria Park in the city on Sunday 16 June. Mr Schulz and Mr Giggins have been fine-tuning the vehicles with great skill and attention to detail. Huge thanks to them and to the wonderful student riders and their dedicated parents who make this exciting event possible.
Inter-Church Council
I was delighted this week to meet with Mr Eric Neumann, member of the Strathalbyn Interchurch Council. He was here to invite us to have representation on this ecumenical council. We have already been blessed by the kindness of this group and are looking forward to working together in ministry to our local community.
As a free democratic nation we are deeply conscious of the sacrifices of past generations in the preservation of our freedom. We acknowledge this week with appreciation the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the major allied offensive that heralded the ultimate victory of allied forces in WW2.
Blessings,
