Wellbeing Spotlight: 3/4 Community

Focus: Independence and Initiative

In Year 3/4 we have been exploring the importance of independence and taking initiative throughout the classroom.

This is being reflected in both their personal actions and their school work. We encourage the students to stand up and demonstrate leadership skills, especially as we near the end of the school year.

Some students have reported back with their feelings of achievement when they have been successful in completing challenging tasks. We strive to use our failures as learning opportunities and want to tackle problems with a positive attitude and an open mind!

Kinder Visits at Dobson

Lara: The kinder visit was amazing! The kids were so friendly. There was a little girl called Elsie. She was my shadow! We played tiggy which was fun. Everyone was chasing me! The game that stood out to me was Duck Duck Goose and there was half the people in the class playing it. We also painted inside! It was an amazing experience going back a couple of years. The kids were so kind and friendly. It couldn't have been any more fun!

Oliver: It was glorious! We met a lot of really enthusiastic people. There was an Indian boy that could not speak English and used sign language and he was a really interesting kid to watch. There was also a kid named Maxton, he was very clingy to me but he was very funny too. I want to be his buddy next year! Later I played with Maxton and his friends, we played with red hopper balls and they kept throwing them at me. But in the middle of the game I went to play Duck Duck Goose and they thought I was still playing with them and were still throwing the balls at me but it was funny! There was a kid named Oliver and he had the same name as me and he acted like me when I was in kindergarten, what a coincidence! Well that’s all I have to say, I wish we could go again!

Lucy:  The kindergarten visit was so much fun, I made lots of friends and played games. We played Duck Duck Goose, Jelly Monster and tiggy. We painted and played on the swings. They were all so nice and really happy to see us. It was really fun playing with the kids and the kids coming next year to our school which was exciting.

Kristina: The visit was great. We had lots of fun and we played a lot. The kids were so cute. Everyone was so nice to each other. All of the kids were playing together very nicely. My favourite bit was going outside and we played Duck Duck Goose and even Monster Tiggy.
