Celebrations of Learning

This week our Celebrations of Learning have continued with our Year 3/4 children and our Year Preps  showcasing their learning to particular audiences. Today I visited our Year 3/4 Melbourne Museum and 'had a blast' exploring their interactive displays. There was a constant buzz of excitement around the room from both the children presenting and each grade who came to explore.

Yesterday, our Year Preps celebrated their  'World Around Us' Inquiry unit with a Cultural celebration with their families. Unfortunately I couldn't get there as I was stuck in a School Review meeting (I know where I would have rather been)  but by all reports, children and parents enjoyed the hands on activities presented.

I even believe there have been many 'cooking' requests at home... maybe that's a job for the school holidays.

And let's not forget our Year Prep Firefighters!

Learning Conferences and Student Portfolios

We trust that our Learning Conferences today will provide an opportunity to celebrate your child's achievement to date and set achieveable learning goals for the final term.

Today you will also receive your child's Learning Portfolio which will further assist you in the creation of your child's learning journey to date. Please take the time over the holiday period to sit down and enjoy exploring the Portfolio together. Let your child do the talking.

Supporting Children's Behaviour: Parent Seminar

Please find a flyer attached for a FREE seminar, for parents and carers  of children aged 2-12, taking place on Wednesday 16th October, 6.30-8.30 pm at Maidstone Child and Family Centre (23 Burns St, Maidstone).

The topic is  “Supporting Children’s Behaviour” and is being delivered in partnership with MacKillop Family Services.

This topic has frequently come up in my conversations with families so this may prove a valuable opportunity for all.

Bookings are required – see link on the flyer for details.

Fees and levies

Thank you to all families who are up to date with Fee and Levy payments for 2019. A reminder that all accounts (unless otherwise arranged with me) need to be finalised by the end of this term. Payments can be made at the school office or by EFT via:

BSB: 083 347

Account Number: 488033614

Please reference family name or ID number with your payment.

Summer Uniform

It's time to put away the winter uniform for another year!

It is expected that all children will be wearing their correct summer uniform from the first day of next term. Uniform items are readily available through the school office for purchase.

While you are getting your summer items together, please make sure everything is labelled with your child's name. It still amazes me the number of nameless items which are left in classrooms or brought to the office.

School Improvement: CEMSIS Surveys

Just a reminder that this Friday is the last day for  families who receieved the invitation to complete the CEMSIS survey as part of our School Improvement Process.

This parent feedback is highly valued and together with our student surveys and staff surveys it provides a story into what we are doing well and opportunities for future development.

Australian Mathematics Competiton

On 1st  August three of our Year 6 students, Xavier Healey, John Trieu and Kevin Tran, took part in the online Australian Mathematics Competition. The Nationwide test was comprised of 30 questions, allowing students 1 hour to complete. The competition tested the students' persistence and problem solving skills.

We congratulate the boys for taking part in the competition and commend them on their fantastic efforts! The boys have done their classmates and teachers very proud. Xavier Healey received a Distinction and  Kevin and John were awarded a Credit.

Well done boys!

End of Term 3

Just a reminder that Term 3 ends this Friday September 20th. Children will be dismissed at 1:00 pm on Friday.

Have a wonderful holiday break!

God Bless
