First Reconciliation

We congratulate the  eleven  Year 2 students who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on Tuesday evening.

Thank you to the parents, Miss Anderson, Miss Borg and Miss Marakis who all assisted the children in preparing for this very special sacrament.

Year 5/6 Camp

Our Year 5/6 students arrived home from  camp on Friday afternoon looking completely exhausted but assured us they had an awesome time in Marysville! The weather was perfect for all the activities and by all accounts everyone thoroughly enjoyed the activities they experienced.

A huge thank you to the staff members who accompanied the children: Miss Stefanie Poropat, Miss Chloe Pincho, Mr Wil Marks, Miss Lauren Borg and Mrs Anne Di Stefano. They too arrived back looking exhausted but had a great time and are still talking about the children's excellent behaviour and positive mindset as they challenged themselves to attempt new adventures.

Italian day

Grazie Signora Anderson!

What an amazing day we had on Monday celebrating Italian culture, language, art, architecture, sports and food! Signora Anderson spent many weeks  planning and preparing for this  celebration and there were happy, smiling faces all round.

It was wonderful to see the  children dressed in Italian attire and there was a sea of colour and a buzz around the school as our children participated in their chosen activities. A fun day was had by all!

Grazie also to Nonna Gabby, Mrs Borg, Michelle Mammoliti and all the staff who assisted with the activities on the day.

Swimming Program

Our Year Prep-4 Swimming Program commences on Wednesday 6th November which is the day after Melbourne Cup Day and will run for eight (8) consecutive days at the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre.

Swimming is part of the Physical Education curriculum and it is expected that all students attend.  Students will travel to and from the venue by bus each day and each lesson runs for 43 minutes.

The time table for the program is as follows:

First Lesson:

Year Prep G, Year 1/2B & Year 3/4Z

  • Bus Departs CCK at 11:50am
  • Lesson: 12:30pm – 1: 13pm

Second Lesson:

Year Prep N, Year 1/2C and Year 3/4L

  • Bus Departs CCK at 12:34pm
  • Lesson: 1:15pm – 1:58pm

Third Lesson:

Year 1/2H and Year 3/4S

  • Bus Departs CCK at 1:18pm
  • Lesson: 2:00pm – 2:43pm

Children are to wear their bathers underneath their uniform and bring a towel and underpants to school in another bag. Girls who wish to wear one-piece bathers will be given time to change at school before the lesson.

Please ensure that all items of clothing and the swimming bag are clearly labelled with the child’s name and grade. No jewellery is to be worn during the swimming program.

Parents who wish to observe their children swim are asked to adhere to the following guidelines as set by the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre:

  • ALL parents/spectators must enter through the main entrance doors and report to customer service to advise they are watching the swim program with the school
  • No photographs are to be taken by parents/spectators
  • Parents/spectators must remain 4 metres from the edge of the pool and are NOT to approach children (or instructors) during lessons

Throughout the program we encourage the children to be as independent as possible, including getting themselves dressed in the change rooms after their lesson (You will be surprised how capable they actually are). In conjunction with our Child Safety Policy, parents are NOT  permitted in the change rooms while the children are getting changed. Teachers will be reminding you of this so please respect their requests. We also ask that items from the canteen are not purchased for children.

During the swimming program it is important that all children have a healthy and hearty breakfast and that they bring some extra healthy snacks to keep them going throughout the day, especially since they will be having an earlier lunch than normal.

Our lunch break during the swimming program will be 10:50 am to 11:50 am. The afternoon recess break will be from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm when children will eat a snack. We ask that the Prep to Year 4 children have an extra snack to eat after returning from swimming.

Please respond to the permission request on CareMonkey which includes all the details for your child's swimming timetable.

Transition Program

In response to feedback from parents, children and staff, this year we have extended our Transition Program for our P-3 children to allow them to gain valuable experience moving forward in to 2020.

Essentially they will have the opportunity to experience 'life ' in their 2020 classroom for an additional three (3) sessions with the first being on Thursday 31st October between 11:30am and 12:15pm (further days are as listed on the School Calendar).

We hope that these opportunities assist in relieving any anxiety and foster the development of new relationships.

Scholastic Book Club

Term 4 book club is available now. Catalogues will be given out in class this week. Orders are due back on Friday 15/11/2019. This is the last book club for the year.

It’s a great opportunity to get your orders in for Christmas. If your orders are for presents, just let Debbie know at the office. We can hold the books for you to pick up at reception rather than them going to your child’s classroom.

Orders must be made through the online portal. We are not accepting cash payments anymore. It is easy to order. The Book Club LOOP platform for parents allows you to pay by credit card. Your child’s order is submitted directly to school safe and sound and the books will be delivered to classrooms. You can place your child’s order at scholastic.com.au/LOOP or using the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Kind regards,

Kylie Feely

Book Club Co-ordinator
