Student News

Announcing our student leaders.....

Earlier this term, we asked our year 5 and year 6 students to consider applying for positions as student leaders at Para Vista Primary School. Previously a small group of leaders have been appointed and they have taken on a variety of responsibilities throughout the year.

This year, we received 27 applications! We were blown away by this and the fact that there were so many students who wanted to be part of leading student voice and involvement in our school, we made the decision to rethink our structure. As a result, all of these students are now part of our new student leadership teams, led by a group of 6 Executive Leaders.

Congratulations to all of our Executive Leaders and their teams. We are proud of all of them and look forward to seeing what they can achieve as our student leaders in 2023.

Acknowledging Respect

For the past 3 terms, we have had a focus on our school value of Respect. Students are working on demonstrating respectful actions, talking respectfully and looking after our school and others' property. We began acknowledging respectful audience skills during assemblies in Term 4 last year and have this term, moved this acknowledgement into our play spaces. Staff are focusing on catching students being respectful and writing them a ticket detailing what they were doing at the time. These tickets are then placed in a box in the office and last assembly, we drew the first of our winners who all received a $2 canteen voucher.

Next term, staff will begin acknowledging students who are demonstrating any of our school values of Respect, Honesty and Courage during their learning or within interactions throughout the school day. Values certificates will be presented each assembly to celebrate this achievement.
