PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
School Review – Term 3 of 2023
We are excited to share that our school will be undergoing a comprehensive review in Term 3 of this year. All schools undertake a review process every four years and whilst a ‘review’ may have a negative connotation to the word in ways, is an important opportunity for us to assess our current practices and identify areas for improvement, in order to better serve our students and community.
The outcome of the review process is the development of a new Strategic Plan for our school. This plan will set out our goals and priorities for the coming years, and will guide our decision-making and resource allocation.
To ensure that our strategic plan accurately reflects the needs and aspirations of our school community, we will be seeking input and feedback from a wide range of stakeholders. We encourage all students, parents, teachers, and community members to participate in the consultation process when the times arise.
There will be a number of opportunities for consultation, including:
- A survey to be distributed to all parents and carers, which will seek feedback on a range of topics related to our school's performance and direction
- Focus groups and consultation sessions with teachers, students, and parents (time for parents/carers to be confirmed later this term)
- One-on-one meetings with the review team
- School Council consultation
We value the input and perspectives of all members of our school community, and we encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to have your voice heard.
The review team will be visiting our school in August of Term 3 to undertake 5 days of observations, meetings and workshops and we look forward to working with them to create a new strategic plan that reflects our shared vision for the future.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our school's success.
Recognising our student volunteers in the community
We are proud to announce that 68 of our students have been invited to a special lunch hosted by the Shire on May 15th, to recognize their outstanding contributions to our local community as student volunteers.
These students have dedicated countless hours to a range of community service activities, including volunteering at local charities, helping out at community events, and assisting with environmental conservation efforts. They have truly made a positive impact on our community, and we are delighted that their efforts are being recognized in this way.
The lunch will be held at the Wurdi Baierr Stadium, and will provide an opportunity for our students to meet and network with other volunteers from across the Shire. They will also hear from a range of speakers, including local leaders and representatives from community organizations.
We are thrilled that our students are being given this opportunity to be recognized for their hard work and dedication. We believe that community service is an important part of our school's values, and we are proud of the contributions our students have made to our local community.
We would like to congratulate all of the students who have been invited to attend the lunch, and thank them for their ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in our community.
Changes to the external toilet doors
We are pleased to announce that we have made some changes to our school's toilet facilities as discussed in term one. The external doors to the toilets are now kept open during school hours in the senior courtyard area and the Year 8 and 9 corridor. Please be advised that this change does not compromise the privacy of using the facilities.
This change was made with the safety and wellbeing of our students in mind. We noticed that there was a tendency for students to congregate in the area around the toilet facilities, which was causing some disruptions to the safe use of facilities.
There have been no changes to the Year 7 toilet area.
By keeping the external doors open, we hope to discourage students from loitering in this area and promote a more focused and productive learning environment for all.
We understand that this change may take some getting used to, but we hope that students will see the benefits in the long run. As always, the safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority. We appreciate your cooperation and support as we strive to create a safe and positive learning environment for all.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
