Religion

This term, students will continue to develop their understanding and knowledge of the parables told in the Bible and how Jesus communicated messages through parables. Students will begin to explore the seven Sacraments as they start preparing for their Confirmation.

Literacy

This term in Reading we will be exploring a range of reading comprehension strategies that allow students to identify literal and inferred information in a text whilst developing the skills of note taking and summarising.

In Writing we will be delving into informative texts and writing styles including biographies, procedures and information reports. The children

will be looking at the language features and structures of each of these text types.

Children will continue to be encouraged to participate in class discussions and will demonstrate their public speaking skills when presenting their research and learnings.

In Mathematics the students will explore fractions, decimals and percentages.  They will create number sequences involving whole numbers, fractions and decimals and describe their rules.

The students will investigate combinations of transformations and explore simple prisms and pyramids. They will relate decimals to the metric system and choose appropriate units of measurement to perform a calculation. The students will solve problems and make connections between length, perimeter and area.

Inquiry

Our students will be exploring the concept of change in Inquiry through the lens of Australian History. Students will undertake a research assignment in which they will research a key event that had a significant impact on Australia.
