Year 8 football tournament
The Year 8 boys took part in the interschool football tournament last week and performed excellently. They won three games comfortably, 4-1, 3-0 and 3-0 with some very impressive goals.
In the other game, knowing we only needed a draw to progress to the next round, the team started well and went into a 3-2 lead, unluckily having a 4th goal disallowed. With just over a minute left we remained in the lead, but then unfortunately we suffered a couple of injuries and as we reorganised the opposition scored 2 very quick goals, with the last coming as the referee blew the final whistle meaning we did not even have the opportunity to kick off and get the equaliser. That left us in second place and meaning we failed to progress by a single point. It was harsh on the team who had done so well with other teams commenting on the skill of our players.
Matthew Pulu and Hay Nay Tha deserve a special mention, stepping up from Year 7 and playing so well that they ended up playing every minute. Htwa Reh was outstanding in midfield and Yuku Soe worked so hard up front, constantly winning the ball back and getting himself a deserved goal. Eh Soe was absolutely fantastic, the stand out performer from all teams, scoring 10 goals across the 4 games with 2 hat-tricks and an unbelievable goal from his own half. The boys did themselves and the school proud.

Senior Boys Soccer
The Year 11 and 12 boys participated in the senior boys football tournament and excelled, winning every game and not conceding a single goal.
The standard of football the boys played was superb and their behaviour and attitude an absolute credit to the school. Twice, when an opponent was injured, our boys notified the referee, stopped the game and assisted the injured player. When a player wasn’t picked to start, they accepted the decision and got fully behind those playing.
It is hard to pick out any individuals as the whole squad performed well, but a mention must go to Shar Lweh Moo who kept three clean sheets in goal and Jeremy Than who rounded off an excellent tournament with a hat-trick in the last game including a free kick on the edge of the box.
It was a pleasure to take the team and watch such good players playing for each other. We look forward to the next round.

Intermediate Boys Soccer
We played 3 games, results below.
WCC 0 Al Taqwa 1
Match summary: It was an evenly matched game, and we were unlucky to concede a goal late in the second half from about 3 yards out after a parried save from the WCC keeper and a scramble to clear in the penalty area. The opponents were extremely physical and some of our boys were on the end of some questionable challenges and had to be replaced due to injury.
WCC 4 Suzanne Cory HS 0
Match Summary: We were comfortable in possession for the entirety of the game and controlled the play on most areas of the pitch. Jander Than (10E) scored a hattrick sandwiched either side by a goal each from Josh McIntosh (9S) and Amir HABIB (10E).
WCC 2 Hoppers Crossing College 0
Match Summary: We controlled possession for most of the game again, and Jander Than (10E) scored a goal in each half. It was a great team effort and most of our boys won their individual duels on the pitch.
There was some great feedback from teachers from the other schools and referees who commended our boys on their leadership, sportsmanship, support, and behaviour on the day. Lot’s off positive comments about our group on the day, with the most often repeated “you have a really nice group of boys”. The team culture we have created in the FDP (boys & girls) in such a short amount of time is our greatest achievement thus far and it was great to hear teachers from other school praise the team.

We played 3 games, results below.
WCC 2 The Grange 0
Match summary: We dominated the game throughout and won every area of the pitch. Leyla Hawli (10A) scored both goals getting on the end of some fantastic team play in the lead up to the goals.
WCC 6 Werribee Secondary College 0
Match Summary: The girls put on a masterclass in defence and midfield which gave the forwards the necessary service to get the goals to ice the game. Leyla Hawli (10A) got a hattrick, Shar Kwe Shee Moo Tu (10E) scored a brace, and Sa Bo Gay (10E) got the final goal. Elizabeth Jonah (9E) and Raquel Grey (9B) commanded the defensive unit, and Eh Moe Ta Dah Htoo (10G) was the leader in midfield.
Final
WCC 2 Suzanne Cory HS 0
Match Summary: We attacked from the outset and got an early goal in the first half through Leyla Hawli (10A). We missed a penalty and hit the post twice, before consolidating our lead with a second goal from Shar Kwe Shee Moo Tu (10E).
We were the overall winners of the competition on the day and this win secures our progress into the regional playoffs scheduled for late July.
