Middle School

Cross Country Event

On Monday 3 April, all Middle School students attended the annual Cross Country Event in beautiful Bonython Park. It was a lovely sunny morning and a wonderful atmosphere of support. Students cheered each other on as they completed the 3km course in age group heats. Students were timed and those who finished in the fastest time frames will continue on to compete at the SACSA Cross Country Event in early Term 2.

From 9 Brice

As part of the Rite Journey Program in Year 9, students were asked to design a symbol that represents themselves. The students could choose to include anything they'd like in their symbol. Many students chose to incorporate things that are important to them such as things that they love and enjoy doing, and their hopes and dreams for the future. Many students also chose to weave-in bible verses or include symbols of faith in their designs.

In Home Group 9B, once the students had designed their symbols they spent a lesson in the Art Room, painting their beautiful and unique symbols onto canvas. These canvases were used to create a display in our class room which represents each of the unique, individual and much-loved members of our Home Group. Each student had the opportunity to share their symbol with the class and we discussed how wonderful it is that we are all uniquely shaped and made by our creator. As Ephesians 2:10 says,

"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

The Resilience Project

We're excited to promote PROJECT+, designed to support the wellbeing of parents and caregivers and complement the valuable work of 'The Resilience Project' in the classroom. This Parent and Carer edition of PROJECT+ unpacks the topic of Emotional Literacy, exploring why emotional literacy is essential for both adults and children alike.

20 Book Challenge

From the Emmaus Student Book Council

The Emmaus Book Council is a student group for all things book-related, with members from across the Middle and Senior School. This year, the Book Council has created a 20 Book Challenge. Across the year, interested students will read different books that fit into 20 categories including: a book published in the year you were born, a book recommended by a friend, and many more. Those who successfully complete the challenge will be invited to a celebration and will enter the draw for prizes. It’s not too late for students to join the challenge! They can find out more by joining the Google Classroom page with the code: pkmpo7k.

The Book Council will also help to organise events such as Book Week activities and Book Swap sessions. The Book Council strives to encourage and spread the love of reading with everyone.
