Individual success

We have had some major student achievements.

Netball – Haleina Suafoa Tanoi

Despite still being bottom age, only just turning 14, Haleina has just made the Victorian Schools State Netball 16yrs and under team to play at the National schools championships  in Perth.

Haleina has also been selected in the Samoan u/21 National squad along with her sister, Yr 12 student last year, Kahlan. Haleina has also been selected as a training partner in the Samoan Open Womens netball squad.

Lawn Bowls – Emilee Davies has recently competed in the Victorian Lawn Bowls Championships achieving excellent results: -

1. U18 Victoria championship - Semi final triples; Winner mixed pairs; Runner up singles

2. Open Victorian Champs Week - Semi mixed pairs; Runner up triples

Soccer - Daniel Cvetkovski, Yr 7,  has been selected in a representative junior squad to compete in an event in Spain in June. He will attend Barcelona Soccer Academy for a week then compete in the Donosti Cup in San Sebastian.

Rugby Union - Congratulations to two Yr 8 boys who have just been chosen in the Victorian u/14 yrs Rugby Union squad – Willis Te’o and Eitini Samisoni.

Layla’s results at the State finals every year have been outstanding. This year is no exception.

Individual Championships

Team Sports

Volleyball

Western Ranges – we made a clean sweep of the senior and intermediate boys and girls local competition. Between the 4 teams, over all their matches only one set was dropped in all the wins.

Western Region

Intermediate Girls - def Laverton, Strathmore and Victoria University. Played Braybrook in the final. In an extremely high standard and tense final which could have gone either way we lost 23/21, 19/21, 11/15. Some errors at vital stages gave the serve back to the opponents who took advantage of this. The convenor praised both teams stating that it was one of the best volleyball games he had ever seen in his many years of convening. The sportsmanship of both sides was outstanding. He also complimented the wonderful speech our captain AC Ah Ching made after the game.

Intermediate Boys - The boys struggled to play to their best ability to achieve a win against Essendon but drew both games against Point Cook and Copperfield. A disappointing result as they are much better than how they played.

Senior Girls – we played a little inconsistent during the day – we defeated Point Cook and Rosehill but lost a close match in 3 sets against Gilson College in a match that decided the pool finalist.

Senior Boys – the boys just could not get their game together losing all three matches against Altona, Gilson and Rosehill. All matches were very close and could have gone either way but we just could not finish off each set in each match.

Entries and Trainings

Students need to sign up to be considered for team selections on a Compass post via the INSIGHTS tab. This gives us an indication whether we have the interested numbers to enter a team. If students fail to sign up then we have to assume that there is little interest and that team will not be entered.

Trainings will most likely occur on Mondays and Fridays afterschool 3.15pm-4.15pm. Some Thursdays may also need to be introduced in the middle terms due to the number of teams expected to enter.

General Sport Excursion Reminders

  • All consent forms must be returned like every other excursion to the front office WITH the payment by the due date on the form.
  • No student will be allowed to bring the consent form on the day and/or bring the money on the day.
  • No CONSENT form - No MONEY –  not returned by DUE date = No GO = get left behind = unhappy team and coach
  • If your family qualify for the Camps and Excursions fund provided by the Govt. you need to collect a form from the General Office. This helps you pay for all camps and excursions, but it must be registered by June. You can only access the fund after your form has been processed.
