OSHC

What’s been happening?
2023 is off to a great start at before and after care! We’ve kept busy with lots of arts and crafts, including making origami bird finger puppets, icy pole stick characters, OSHC-made playdough and magic torch drawings. We’ve also tried some new foods; some prepared by our wonderful staff for mealtimes, and other delicious treats made by the children during cooking activities. Outside, we’ve learned classic elastics games, made a giant hopscotch (over 200 squares long!) and had some great games of octopus and mushroom tiggy.
We have a very busy program with up to 105 children attending each afternoon. To keep everything running smoothly and positively, we’ve been encouraging the children to think of OSHC as a mini community where we all help out and consider other people’s feelings and needs. Several children have shown an excellent sense of community, including Bonnie who has provided peer support to younger children, and Riley and Esther who look after our resources so carefully. Keep up the great work!
Technology use at OSHC
We understand that before and after school hours are a time for leisure, relaxation and fun, and that for some children, this involves spending time on their digital devices. At before and after care, our staff work hard to provide numerous planned and impromptu activities each day that foster wellbeing, creativity and social skills. We also have a range of resources that children can access for free play. With this as our focus, we will be avoiding the use of technology at OSHC. On occasion (rainy days, for instance) we will have technology sessions when staff members are able to provide a suitable space and high-level supervision, but this will not be an everyday occurrence.
Bookings
Parents and carers, please note that we are reaching full capacity for many of our sessions. Tuesday afternoons are fully booked, with several families already on a waitlist. We will send out correspondence if spaces open up, but in the meantime please find alternative arrangements for child care on Tuesday afternoons.
Pupil Free Day Program
On Monday the 24th of April, OSHC will be running a pupil free day program from 7:30am – 5:45pm with the theme “Daytime Slumber Party”. Kids can come wearing their comfiest pyjamas for a day of sleepover-themed fun including fort building, popcorn making, spotlight tiggy and more! Existing OSHC users can now book in through My Family Lounge. We request that bookings are made before Wednesday the 5th of April to help us plan ahead. Thank you!
