Music Notes
Term 3 is always a very busy time for the Music Department and this year is no exception.
Winter Concert: Our Winter Concert was a huge success with standing room only and really fabulous music. Congratulations to all our Concert Band students on their outstanding performances and of course, a special mention to our Training Concert Band on their debut performance. They were fantastic.
Victorian Schools Music Festival: Congratulations to our Senior Concert Band who performed at Federation Square in the Deaken Edge Theatre last Friday, 15 August, as part of the Victorian Schools Music Festival. They gave a truly outstanding performance, receiving a platinum award (the highest award possible) for their work and very high praise from the judges. This is the highest award we have ever received at any band festival and is a real credit to the hard work our band students are doing.

Congratulations to our Clarinet Ensemble who have been selected to perform in Susono, Japan, at the Frankston Susono Friendship Societies Australian Fair. Predipa Thompson, Alyda Tremayne, Samantha Jones, Nicoleta Kehagia, Joey Rolleston, Abram Poznanski, Natalie Broome and Zoe Francis will be traveling to Susono in mid-November for a week of touring and performing. A great effort and a big commitment!
Best wishes to our Music Captain, Sebastian Farchione, who will be performing as part of the orchestra for the State School Spectacular which will be held in the Rod Laver Arena on 13 September 13. Sebastian will be committing himself to a gruelling rehearsal schedule with rehearsals in Melbourne for four weekends straight before the show.
COMING UP
Cabaret Night: Our famous Cabaret Night will be on again on Friday, 12 September. This year we will be holding the show in the school hall. More room and fancier lights but the same great music! The show will feature all our stage bands, small ensembles and some soloists. Entry is just $10.00, BYO drink and nibbles. Bookings through the Music Centre.
Battle of the Bands Jordan Dearsley, Trent Tucker and Lukas Goodchild aka “Don’t Shoot The Messenger” will be competing in the Southern Region of Schools Battle of the Bands on Wednesday, 27 August. We wish them well.
VCE Soiree: Music Centre, 7pm 15 September Our VCE three and four students are now on the countdown to their exams which will commence early next term. The students will be presenting selected pieces from their exam repertoire. This is an excellent opportunity for Middle School students who are contemplating VCE Music to come along and see what the standard is. Entry is free.
End of Year Concert Our end of year concert will be held in the Frankston Arts Centre on Friday, 24 October commencing at 7:30pm. Tickets will be on sale on the first day back next term.

Equestrian
Jenna Bos qualified for the Victorian Equestrian Interschool Dressage Series Grand Final ranked 27th.
After competing on Sunday, Jenna’s individual result placed her 11th overall for the day. This was a great effort and she was very happy with the end result.
