Junior School District Athletics

33 students from Years 4 - 6 qualified for the District Athletics at the brand new Brauerander Park. It was a fantastic experience for students to run on the newly developed track which saw our students running as fast as Usain Bolt. Congratulations to Amelie, Benji, Tilly, Lottie, Lincoln, Eli, Ben, Zander and Tommie for qualifying for Division Athletics on 5th May.

Warrnambool Region Sporting Clays Competition

King's College and the Warrnambool Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) collaborated together to host the Warrnambool Region Sporting Clays Competition this week. It ran on Monday 3rd April, and God was very gracious with the weather giving us the opportunity to compete in some splendid conditions, the sun was shining and there was barely a breath of wind.

This year we had the opportunity to invite more schools from the Warrnambool district, this bolstered our number up from 50 competitors last year to over 80 this year representing nine schools from local areas and as far as Geelong. Seeing so many students competing and striving for similar goals was remarkable and inspiring, and so too was how many volunteers got together from different disciplines of Clay Target Shooting. We had representatives from "Field and Game", "Down the Line" and the SSAA who all saw the wonderful benefits this field sport offers our youth, especially those from regional communities.

It is important to remember the sponsors for the day who brought down the costs of the competition significantly. With thanks to Gamebore Australia, Danny Genovese, RobCon Concrete Constructions, Victorian Sporting Clays Association and Shepard's Firearms (Leigh Delzeil). A special thanks to Steve Sambell and Steve Chilton from SSAA who helped organise sponsors and volunteers in helping this event get off the ground and be such a success.

All up, I was very impressed with all the competitors and especially our King's competitors who competed well and with respect for all. Our very own Esther (Year 9) placed second in Junior Girls.
