FATHER'S DAY STALL

By Janet Nyhouse (Community Engagement Manager)

We are confident that our BHCS Dads were sufficiently spoiled on Father's Day this year! Another mammoth effort from our Pulse team to bless our BHCS families with an amazing spread of gifts, at incredible prices, to delight the students with choice for their precious Dad.

It is no easy feat for our team of volunteers to come up with all of the ideas, research, shop, store, transport, pack and wrap over 650 gift options for our students - just imagine how much cellophane was required!! Yet these incredibly dedicated volunteer parents serve our community with grace and passion, giving much of their time and energy to provide this beautiful service for their fellow school families.

Pulse truly is the heartbeat of our parent community. The current team is kind and fun and wise and creative and chatty and caring and simply super cool people to hang out with. They are parents of Kinder, Junior, lots from Year 7 and right up to Year 10 students. I am personally grateful for each one of them. Join me in honouring and giving thanks for this amazing team!

We hope it was a wonderful Father's Day in your home.

KINDER VIP CAFE

By Leesa Esmore (Kinder Co-Educator)

Last week was an awesome week of spending time with our kinder community. To celebrate Father's Day we had VIP café, we had nanas and poppas, grandads, grannies, aunties, uncles and even neighbours!

The kinder children had been preparing for weeks in advance, making presents, biscuits and cards.

All our visitors were served a cold drink and an ANZAC biscuit by their special kinder person.

It was great to see the interaction between all our guests and the children really enjoyed showing their special visitor around kinder, and what we do at kinder.

A true success, and definitely something everyone enjoyed!

JUNIOR SWIMMING LESSONS

By Allyssa Callow (Junior Sports Coordinator)

We have had a fantastic start to our Junior Swimming Lesson program this year. After being unable to run a full swim program for 2 years it is so rewarding to see the students in the water, learning and having fun!

We made the decision to change location to the private swim school Splash’s in Dandenong as they have a reputation for high quality instruction and a superior water quality compared to larger public pools. We have not been disappointed with this decision. Teachers and students alike have remarked on the quality and efficiency of instructors who make learning to swim fun and accessible for all ages and abilities.

It is also wonderful having the centre privately booked so there are no additional members of the public around as our students are swimming and changing.

Thank you Daina and the team at Splash’s for a great experience so far!

Also, a big shout out to the junior staff and bus drivers who have managed to organise over 200 students in and out of classrooms, onto buses, into the pool and back to school. The turn around times are incredibly tight but our team has done this with a smile on their face and helped facilitate our student's growing independence as they learn to be organised and keep track of their items.

After only the third lesson, each age group is now moving through the facility with amazing organisation and efficiency. You should be very proud of your children!

What a wonderful opportunity and learning experience.
