Year 3/4 AFL Gala Day
On Monday 12 September, the Year 3’s and 4’s went to a Footy Gala day at Hislop Reserve in Balwyn. Firstly, we got onto the bus and quickly made our way to the venue. When we arrived there, the teachers set up a marquee for us to sit under and then we were told which groups we were in for the day. The names of the teams were Sacred Heart Red, Sacred Heart White, Sacred Heart Blue, Sacred Heart Black, Sacred Heart Dockers, Sacred Heart Giants and Sacred Heart Suns. The teams were divided into mixed boys and girls and were also contact and non-contact games. It was great to attend the Footy Gala day with other primary schools such as: St Anne’s, St Roch's, Our Holy Redeemer, Our Ladies and Mont Albert. We played some close matches, we won some and lost some, but we were glad to play our hardest and then shake hands with the other team. It was an amazing experience to see all of Sacred Heart Year 3’s and 4’s cheering the girls on in the final game. The positive spirit of all the students from Sacred Heart remained strong even when we had a bit of rain. We can’t wait to meet and greet students from other schools at the next school’s Gala day!
