Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

Several weeks ago we were contacted by a representative from the Alannah and Madeline Foundation who were looking for three bright, confident young children who might like to appear in some of their promotional videos. This presented a small problem for me as I know we have so many children who would fit this bill. However, after some thought I asked, Isabelle in Year 1 and Edie and Oscar from Year 6 if they would like to give it a go. Of course the answer from all three was a big yes. Many thanks to Isabelle's mum and Edie's mum who kindly offered to take the children to the studio in South Melbourne where the videos were being filmed. As I am sure you all know, the Alannah and Madeline Foundation was created by their father, Walter Mikac, after both girls, aged just three and six, were tragically killed alongside their mother and 32 other people at Port Arthur in Tasmania on 28 April 1996. Walter and a team of volunteers were driven by the belief that all children and young people should be able to live a happy and safe life, free from violence and trauma.

After 25 years, our fight continues.
We fight for every child's right to be safe, so their future is strong.                                                                   Walter Mikac

Congratulations District Athletics

What an absolutely wonderful surprise we all got as our Senior Athletics Team returned from Clifton Hill District Athletics yesterday, very proudly waving their Runners Up Flag. This was a superb effort from our students who all competed and particpated so well throughout the day. Special thanks to Mrs McLeary for all the work she put into preparing the children and organizing the day. Thank you to those parents who were able to attend to offer their support. Go Trinity!

Father's Day Breakfast Friday 2nd September

It's just around the corner and we would love every one of our father's and father figures who can make it to be there to join us for this special breakfast.

Child Safety & Wellbeing

The RIPPLE wellbeing check in trial we have now been using for over a week is providing us with some invaluable data in relation to how our children are feeling each day. The snapshots are giving teachers the opportunity to check in with individual students or the class as a whole. One very pleasing result has shown us that our children's sense of safety and connectedness are veryh striong at Trinity. This is something we have been working extremely hard on this year with the introduction of our Positive Behaviours for Learning practices.

Student Learning

NAPLAN

The NAPLAN results will soon be available to parents and after viewing our preliminary reports it apppears considerable improvement and progress hasd been made across the areas assessed through the national; testing program. I am confident that this growth is a direct result of the focussed and targetted teaching of our children. With school leaders, classroom teachers are constantly reviewing their student data to ensure each child's learning is specific to their individual needs. Once the finmal test results are released I will inform parents who will then receive a detailed report for their child.
