Footy Colours Day

This Thursday 15 September we will be holding a Footy Colours Day.

All students are invited to come to school wearing their favourite footy/sports team's colours!

We will be running footy themed games throughout the day for everyone from Prep to Year 6.

Even if you don't support an AFL team, you can wear rugby, soccer or other sporting clothes etc.

To help celebrate the AFL Finals, our canteen also has a special Footy Finals Fever Meal Deal which can be ordered via Flexi-schools

As part of the Fight Cancer Footy Colours Day initiative, students are also invited to bring a gold coin donation to support this important cause.

Have fun and good luck to your team if they're still in the finals!

Year 6 Leadership Team

End of Term 3 Message

Congratulations to all students, families and staff for what has been a truly great term at ASPS! Slowly but surely, we have seen a return of some much loved events and activities that have been put on hold for the past couple of years! With our COLA completed, we have enjoyed whole school assemblies again (see below for image of Olympian, Millie Tapper, speaking to the students on Monday), in-person celebration of learning events such as the Year 3 Gallery and parents association activities such as the recent PA Disco!

In Term 4, we will continue to see the return of a number of community activities such as our twilight picnic on 28 October, the parent and staff Trivia Night in November, our end of year concert and so much more!

On behalf of the ASPS team, we would like to wish all families the very best for a safe, relaxing  and fun holiday break.

Ways to Volunteer at ASPS

With our school continuing to welcome back parents onto the school site, Term 4 is a great time to re-engage as a school volunteer.  The following always need small armies of enthusiastic parents:

  • Parents Association Committee (email: auburnsouthparents@gmail.com if interested)
  • Kitchen Garden Program (see SAKG page in newsletter)
  • as a canteen team member or casual helper
  • class events and excursions
  • Parent Green Team

If you would like to find out more, please contact the office or myself for further information.

Holiday Construction and School Improvement Works

Over the coming holidays, we will have a number of trades onsite as part of the ongoing Main Building refurbishment.  We will also have contractors working through the holidays to complete the re-surfacing of the basketball court.  in addition to this, we will have more than 100 students participating in school holiday programs. Given that there is so much happening, please keep clear of the school during the holidays and make sure that unsupervised students are not entering the school grounds.

Family Survey: Celebrating Cultural Diversity at ASPS

As an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school, Auburn South Primary School is deeply committed to practicing intercultural understanding.

The following survey is developed by the school’s Cultural Diversity and Inclusion inquiry team and aims to gain insight into the cultures and cultural celebrations that exist across our school community. Ultimately, your responses will come to inform a school-wide commitment to better understanding, acknowledging, and celebrating cultural diversity within our community. Thank you for advance for your commitment to completing the survey.

Ben Zonca, Emily Hui, Alicia Smith, Jenny Frayne and Ravi Parhar

FINAL REMINDER: 2022 Parent/Carer Opinion Survey

All ASPS parents and carers are invited to participate in this year's Parent and Carer Opinion Survey.  The results of this survey helps the school to be responsive to the needs of our community by highlighting and celebrating our strengths while also identifying potential areas for growth and improvement.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.

The survey is conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey is available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.
