We remembered Mother Teresa on her Feast Day on Monday. Mother Teresa (1910–1997) was a Roman Catholic nun who devoted her life to serving the poor and destitute around the world. She spent many years in Calcutta, India where she founded the Missionaries of Charity, a religious congregation devoted to helping those in great need. In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and became a symbol of charitable, selfless work. In 2016, Mother Teresa was canonised by the Roman Catholic Church as Saint Teresa.
“It is not how much we do,
but how much love we put in the doing.
It is not how much we give,
but how much love we put in the giving.”
– Mother Teresa.
FATHER AND SON SPORTS DAY
In an event described as “epic” and “the best ever”, nearly 200 dads and special guests enjoyed a day of sport at Oxford Falls last Thursday. Special thanks to Mr Carroll for organising the event, to all the mums who slaved over the hot BBQ, and to all the dads and grandfathers for taking the time to come and spend some quality time with your sons. Oxford Falls is a special place, and we loved sharing it with you all.
Photos from the day can be found here:
TWILIGHT CONCERT
I was so proud of the Junior School boys in the Junior Jazz, Primary Concert, and Junior Percussion Bands, who, along with the Junior Chorale, performed at the Year 12 Farewell Twilight Concert last Friday evening. Thank you to Mr Timmins and all the Performing Arts teachers who inspire the boys to love music, and who provide opportunities for them to perform to a range of audiences.

Junior School Sport
Thursday Sport: Training for Basketball, Touch Football, Cricket, Softball and Tennis continues this week. Please remember to bring any additional gear you may require.
Father and Son Sports Day: After an overnight deluge and an overcast dawn, it was fantastic to see the sun come out as the Father and Son Sports Day returned to Oxford Falls last week after a two year hiatus. We had a huge number of participants, numerous spectators and a dedicated team of mums on the BBQ, who must be highly commended for feeding such a ravenous horde so efficiently. Basketball, table tennis, soccer, ultimate frisbee, AFL, touch football, tennis, badminton – we made use of every space available to us at Oxford Falls and there was something for all creatures great and small. My most memorable snapshot of the day was seeing one of our students sitting alongside his grandpa, simply taking in the great weather and enjoying each other's company on the sideline of Chaplin #1. The injury report for the day was also very positive, with a pulled hammy and a strained finger the only incidents that the First Aider’s trusty tube of Dencorub couldn’t fix. A big thank you must go to the SPX staff and external coaches for ensuring the activities all ran smoothly. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to bond with their dads, grandpas and uncles, and I sincerely thank all who were able to be a part of the day.
Summer Sports: With three more weeks of training/trials, our coaches are working hard to finalise the teams and get them ready for the Summer season next term. Information for Basketball, Touch Football, Tennis, Cricket and Softball seasons will be made available before the end of Term 3. The season will officially start next term on Saturday, 15 October.

Junior School Walkathon
The boys have raised a lot of money for our partner schools and World Vision child. Thanks to all those who have returned their money. We are still waiting for some boys to return their money so that we can calculate the total money raised. Could you please ensure that all money that has been donated be returned to school this week.

Mrs Martin's Book Trail - The Book of Wondrous Possibilities by Deborah Abela
This book is a fast-paced, warm-hearted middle grade fiction book, suitable for 8 - 12 year old heroes, even if they don't know it yet! It is the perfect example of a literary sizzling start where we are thrown into the world of quiet Arlo and feisty Lisette, from the first page. The adventure and action will have readers unable to put the book down until they find out how Arlo and Lisette overcome their challenges. The Book of Wondrous Possibilities is a magical 'story within a story' tribute to the wondrous possibilities of books, bookshops, libraries, librarians and their amazing ability to save us when we feel lost. #MrsMartinsbooktrail2022.
Happy Reading!
Mrs Elena Martin – Teacher Librarian
