Principal's Message

 Dear families,

What a busy start to the term we have had. Lots happening in and out of the class and it has been so lovely to see slight glimpses of Spring happening around the school and local area.

2023 Kindergarten

Monday September 8th is our last Kinder Orientation Experience morning for this term. If you know of any children that are interested in sending their students to our lovely school for Kindergarten 2023, this is a fantastic chance to see what our infant class has to offer. It begins at 9am and goes until 12pm.

Next term, the intensive Kindergarten experience days commence. The days will run on Tuesdays for five consecutive weeks and will start in week 2, 18th October until Tuesday 15th November. Information packs will be sent home with those parents whose children are already attending our experience mornings, but if you know of anyone who needs further information, please refer them directly to myself or Georgia at school.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent Teacher Interviews begin next week in both classes. This is a fantastic opportunity to speak directly to myself or Georgia about your child/ren’s progress leading into the final stages of the year and beyond. Appointments go for 20 minutes and can be booked through our SkoolLoop App or by contacting the school.

Gathering and NAIDOC Week

We will be hosting our term 3 gathering during NAIDOC week. This will be Tuesday 20th September at 10am. A morning tea will be held after the assembly for parent and students. In addition to this, and as part of our continued NAIDOC week celebrations, the school has organised a morning excursion to Bulagaranda (Mount Yarrowyck). This will involve students going on a bush walk to visit the Aboriginal Cave Painting site. More information and Permission note will be available in the next newsletter.

Senior Camp

A note went home on Monday with students in year 5 and 6 regarding changes to our annual Sport and Recreation camp. The new date and venue for the camp for this year is Wednesday 12th to Friday 14th of October 2022 at Broken Bay on the Central Coast. Deposits and notes are due in this Friday so we can confirm numbers. Our Sport and Recreation camp to Lake Jindabyne and the snow is booked in for term 3 2023 for students in years 3/4/5/6.

Mud Clothes

Starting next Thursday and for each remaining Thursday this term, we will be having mud clothes day. This means students can bring a set of play clothes and old shoes in their school bag to wear during recess, lunch and sport to allow them full access and use of the oval and surrounds that are currently too wet to use while wearing school uniform. Students will be able to get changed into their "Mud Clothes" once they finish eating at breaks and are then able to roll, play football, slide or climb without ruining their uniforms and also bringing mud into the classrooms ruining resources and carpets. This will also allow us to reintroduce sports such as rugby, oz-tag, T-ball, soccer and more.

If this initiative is supported and successful, we will look to move "Mud Clothes" to be an everyday option next term provided all goes well this term.

For any clarification please feel free to contact Georgia or myself at school.

New England Sings:

I received notice late last week from the organisers of New England Sings letting us know that tickets are selling fast to the concert on Sunday 23rd October. If you have not bought your tickets yet, please do so before they all sell out!

North West PSSA Athletics Carnival

Best of luck to our NWPSSA Athletics Carnival competitors heading to Tamworth this Friday to compete. Aggie Street is competing in the 100m Dash age race, Lacey Swilks is competing in her 100m Dash age race and Blake Swilks is competing in the 200m Dash race senior division.

A special mention also to our schools' relay team; Jordan Archibald, Charlie Zirkler, Blake Swilks and Lacey Swilks. This amazing team came first in the Elizabeth Austen Relay in Armidale and are now competing on Friday also. Best of luck to you all!

Thank you everyone.
