Team Vic Cricket Team
Congratulations to Jasmine F,
SRT who has been selected as the Emergency for the State Girls Team Vic Cricket Team to play against the other states and territories in Shepparton later this year. Well done Jasmine, what a sensational effort to make the final team. Even though an emergency at this stage, you may get to play. If not, well, 2023 is looking really good.
SSV Golf Tournaments
I would like to introduce you to Olivia J ( MJW) who has been competing in the School Sport Victoria / Golf Australia joint competition this week.
Olivia has competed at both rounds so far this year and has won the girls at Gardiner’s Run and Yarra Yarra Golf Courses. There is another round next week at Box Hill, with qualifiers from those rounds playing in the Second round to be held at Eastern Golf Club in November with qualifiers from that going onto the State Final.
Olivia is a Junior member at Eastern Golf Club and a regular player in weekly competitions so will have a home game advantage. She has had regular success in club, SSV, and Golf Australia Rookies and Junior events. The first full event she played at was Rossdale Golf Club Open earlier this year and while it was expected she might do well in the Junior section, she won the overall Women’s Nett event for the day!
What a sensational effort Oliva! We wish Olivia the best of luck for her next round coming up next week.
Inspired by an Olympian!
Last Friday 2nd September the middle and senior girls, had Australian Olympic Finalist and Commonwealth Games Silver Medallist, Brooke Buschkuhl present and share her truly inspiring journey of a young girl with a love of long jump, a dare to dream big, a belief in herself and a huge amount of training, setbacks and hard work.
We were fortunate to have the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) provide a guest speaker through their 'Be Fit Be Well' program that targets girls in sport, to encourage participation and ongoing enjoyment of their sport.
We hope the girls took away something inspiring from the presentation and if they are interested in learning more, the following website provides further information and resources.

Library Update
I know I am going off a week early wishing everyone a great holiday, but I received an exciting email from Eastern Regional Libraries which I wanted to share. The email contained a link to a publication which gave information on many activities happening at Libraries in the district and many of them are free! Some of these are suitable for students. Here is the link to that publication. https://www.yourlibrary.com.au/whats-on-spring-2022/
There was also a link to activities that are on over the school holidays at different libraries in the Eastern Region. Many of these are also free, but many require bookings so that is why I have got in early. Here is the link to the school holiday program. https://www.yourlibrary.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Holiday-Program-SPRING22-1.pdf
Also remember that the State Library of Victoria in Melbourne also has activities and displays worth visiting. https://www.slv.vic.gov.au/whats-on
Have a great break. I look forward to hearing about all the great books read over the holidays.
