Ilere Lubwe – Yr 12 VCAL
Congratulations Ilere on securing a work trial at Bob White Electrix in October. With the possibility of a fulltime apprenticeship on offer afterwards – we certainly hope it goes well. Ilere secured this opportunity by responding to an ad posted on his compass newsfeed and doing a pre-introduction interview with Ms Parcell. Ilere was then referred to Glenn Robertson of Headstart Program who managed the meet and greet with the employer.
Mikaela Apps – Year 10
Congratulations Mikaela on negotiating, and then securing a part time job with a local Bookkeeping company. Mikaela has regularly demonstrated maturity, an enquiring mind, and determination while researching her subject requirements and university options with Ms Parcell. By attending University Information sessions, Mikaela is ensuring her Year 11 choices compliment her future study and career intentions. The traits of wanting to learn and being accountable for her own future is why Mikaela was recommended for the job
Virginia (Ollie) Sherlock - Year 12 VCE
Congratulations Ollie on the many discussions had, and questions asked of Ms Parcell during your 2023 – Intentions interview. The confidence you gained by learning to talk about yourself was immense, and you should be very proud that you used this new found confidence when you recently interviewed for your first full time job. Ollie will complete the VCE – but now recognises that success comes in many different forms, and not everyone has to follow the same pathway to Uni or TAFE . Well done Ollie and may this be the start of a very exciting time for you.
Jessica (Jessie) Trait – Year 10
Congratulations Jessie securing yourself a fulltime painting apprenticeship.
After several other trials and work experiences opportunities - it’s great to see you find what you are looking for and start your apprenticeship with such enthusiasm . The support you have from your parents, is matched by Ms Parcell and all the NBC family.
Mitch Hodgson - Yr 12 VCAL and Ty Gilson - Yr 12 VCE
Thank you to both boys for joining Ms Parcell in the recently recorded Careers and Pathways SEED Podcast with Mr Davis. In this podcast the boys explained their journey of learning about themselves, their interests and how to turn these into a pathway for their futures / careers. The pod cast will air soon, and there is a lot of other Careers + pathways information for anyone who may be interested.
For Mitch, it was multiple conversations and experiences throughout his junior years that lead to him wanting to be a plumber. Mitch has worked with Ms Parcell and Glenn Robertson of Headstart to reach potential employers and hopes to secure a fulltime apprenticeship very soon.
For Ty, it was always about his love of learning and passion for numbers – but not really knowing how that could be come a career. After several conversations with Ms Parcell Ty is now very aware of several jobs and academic pathways being available to him.
