Wellbeing

September 2022

Hello everyone!

Last week we celebrated National RUOK? Day across our campuses… you would have noticed some yellow balloons, posters, and hopefully conversations where we were checking in on our friends, and fellow students.  RUOK? Day is an important day in the calendar for our College Wellbeing Team, as it raises awareness about caring for our community, and starting meaningful conversations with the people we love and care for – regardless of whether we are qualified as wellbeing professionals or not.

RUOK.org gives us some helpful and easy tips to consider when asking a friend “RUOK?”

At the College we had amazing fun days at the P-8 Campuses and great enjoyment at Goldsworthy with a student led podcast  as well.

  1. Am I ready?  I ready to talk openly with someone, and I am in a good headspace.
  2. Am I prepared? I know how I will respond and where to get more help if needed.
  3. Have picked my moment? I have a comfortable place to talk and have enough time to listen.

Not only have we celebrated RUOK? Day this term, we have also partnered with Foodbank this term to deliver a 4 week cooking program for students and their families.  This has been a great fun program, where students and families learnt some new skills in the kitchen, and had a great time at our Tallis Campus kitchen facility.  With a number of families involved in this pilot program where all the feedback we received was fantastic (as was the food we cooked!), we hope to expand this cooking at NBC initiative in future, getting more students and families involved in our community.  Stay tuned for more information about developments in future.

If you would like food support, or if you have the capacity to donate to this great cause, head over to Foodbank.org.au for more information.

Families may also be interest in an event next term at our local library in Corio
