Hughes House Fundraiser:  Ocean Cleanup

The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organisation developing and scaling technologies to rid the oceans of plastic. Their aim is to remove 90% of floating plastics within oceans and 80% of floating plastics throughout over 1000 river sites. With the help and support of individuals, corporations and governments all over the world, they aim to realise the mission and work towards a future where plastic no longer pollutes our oceans.

Usually, Hughes House holds an annual Valentine's Day fundraiser, however, over time we have come to realise that, environmentally, it wasn’t the best idea.

Leading on from the current Year 12’s Leadership program ‘10c bottle collection’, we wanted to expand our interest and recognition for helping the environment throughout the school. So, on Wednesday, 24th August, Hughes House will be holding a sausage sizzle to raise funds for The Ocean Cleanup, in the Sports Centre. We will also be holding a Year 12 versus Teachers volleyball game at lunch, which all senior school students are invited to attend.
