Music Captains
I am delighted that Emily Colbran and Maeve Magner have been appointed as Music Captains for 2022-2023. Emily and Maeve are very keen to promote Music at BMGS and will be excellent role models for our younger musicians.
I would also like to express my thanks to outgoing Music Captains, Aimee Drummond and Zara Wigan, whom I have enjoyed working with in this leadership role.
Stage 6 Aural Workshop
Year 11 and 12 Course 1 and Course 2 Music students participated in an Aural Workshop this week.
The workshop was presented by Ms Royna McNamara, who has a wealth of expertise in this field having been Supervisor for the HSC Music Written examination for the past five years, as well as Assistant Supervisor of HSC Practical marking. The two-hour workshop focused on critical and creative thinking skills and how these can be successfully employed in the HSC aural examination.
Young Musicians Workshop
The Young Musicians Workshop is a three-day school holiday event. Budding musicians are coached by the talented members of the Sydney Symphony Fellowship in a series of rehearsals, sectionals and masterclasses which focus on a major orchestral work. The program culminates in a wonderful free concert performance by participants for family and friends.
Applications are by audition video and close 21st August, 2022. Open to student musicians from Years 4 to 12 (aged 9 to 18) who meet the instrumental entry requirements – for details see: https://www.sydneysymphony.com/learning/young-musicians/young-musicians-workshop
