SCIENCE WEEK

This week (13-21 August) is National Science Week – Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. A range of events take place all across the state…if you missed out, there are many that extend until the end of the year. The National Science Week website can help you find something to do this weekend. Here is the link: https://www.scienceweek.net.au/your-state/vic/

Here at Vermont we have been getting into this years’ theme of GLASS.

All week, students have been visiting the Science Rooms to participate in a range of activities. We had glass bending on Monday and Ms Richards performed her explosions demonstration on Tuesday (those poor little Gummy Bears)! On Wednesday there were glass making demonstrations and on Thursday the students’ were invited to make edible glass. If you can’t get to an event this weekend, why not have a go at making your own Sugar Glass? There are heaps of recipes on line, here is an example of one you could try: https://gosciencekids.com/sugar-glass-edible-science-kids/

We would love for every week to be Science Week! Why not discuss with your child what they are doing in their Science class and find a follow up activity to do at home? Or, try something brand new! A few websites you can check out are:
