Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

Year 7 2021 Information Night

It was wonderful to be able to have Year 7 families on campus on Wednesday, 24 February 2021 for the Year 7 Information Night.  Thank you so much to those who attended.  We hope the experience was positive for you and was not only informative, but also helped you to come to know your child’s Pastoral Teacher and Head of House.  Any parents/guardians that did not attend are most welcome to contact their child’s Pastoral Teacher if they have any questions.

Pastoral Teacher Interviews

On Monday 1 March 2021 we had our first Asynchronous Learning Day where students worked from home and had a Zoom meeting with their Pastoral Teacher to look at their goals for the year and how they are tracking, as well as discussing what we can do to support each student in achieving their goals.  It was a positive day and we hope it will help build relationships between students, parents/guardians and their Pastoral Teacher, as well as support students to achieve their goals for 2021.  Thank you to parents/guardians for their support on the day with the meetings, as well as looking after their child’s learning needs at home.

Long weekend and Staff Professional Development Day

A reminder that Monday 8 March 2021 is the Labor Day public holiday and the school will be closed.

Please also be aware that Tuesday 9 March 2021 will be a Professional Development Day for staff and there will be no classes for students on this day.

Year 7 and 8 Camps

Looking ahead, a reminder that we have the Year 8 and Year 7 camps fast approaching:

  • The Year 8 Camp is from Tuesday 23 March 2021 to Friday 26 March 2021.
  • The Year 7 Camp is from Monday 29 March 2021 to Thursday 1 April 2021.

Both these camps will be a lot of fun for the students.  A reminder to please return permission via PAM.

Child Safety

Over recent weeks we have had presentations at the International Homestay Meeting and the Year 7 Information Night where there has been a time to focus a little on Child Safety. One consistent message we are trying to get across to parents and guardians is the importance of chatting with your child/ren and make sure that they know that no one is allowed to threaten, hurt or touch them in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable.  It is most fruitful if the message at home is consistent with our message here at school.

It is also important for students to be aware that if they have any concerns to please tell a staff member so we can support them.  We are all here to support and we all want to ensure all students feel safe in our community.
