Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Guardians, and friends of Nazareth
It is wonderful to be back to some form of normality with the easing of restrictions. We hope that this is long term and that we can continue to operate in a CovidSafe and free manner.
I thank families for their cooperation on Monday with the introduction of the Asynchronous Learning Day. This day proved to be quite successful for all parties. Our aim is to ensure that pastorally our students and families are known and that together we can work towards meeting the learning goals of the students. Staff were appreciative of the time, and conversations they had with their students and families.
In the coming weeks, we will review the day and invite families for feedback. This feedback will assist the College in making decisions about the day and its future format. Please email principal@nazareth.vic.edu.au with the subject heading – Feedback Asynchronous Learning Day.
Last week also saw the reintroduction of our Grade 5 Taster Days. This is a day when primary school students experience a day in a secondary school. It was terrific to have many young faces here at Nazareth in their CovidSafe bubble enjoying their day. We hope that this will continue throughout the year so that our College continues to be known to many that have not been aware of Nazareth College and what we stand for.
I congratulate some of our students that have recently been selected to demonstrate their talents within the extended Community:
- Tianna Arcaro – Knox 4 Year 10, won the Royal Botanic Garden Award for her piece entitled ‘Kangaroo Paw’;
- Andre Wastle – McAuley 1 Year 7, audition for an AFL television commercial;
- Gabriella Kakerissa – Knox 2 Year 8, ball girl at the recent Australia Open.
This is just a small sample of just how diverse our students are and how they can seize opportunities beyond the classroom. Hopefully, this may inspire others to go beyond their comfort zone.
In concluding, I urge all parents to read the information in the Newsletter about the new legislation that will come into effect from 19 April 2021 that enables information sharing to assist in the transition of child support. The Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS) and Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS), together with the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Management (MARAM) are all new initiatives. These are all measures designed for assisting young people.
God Bless
Mr Sam Cosentino
