Yr. 7/8 Health Immersion Day

On the 9th of June there was a year 7/8 health immersion day. It was held in the 4th lockdown, the previous lockdown so it was all online. That did not stop us from learning and having fun!!! We had an entire day of special guests and fun activities based on physical and mental health, such as weights and meditating. There were also a lot of group activities, afterwards we would send in pictures of all the amazing activities we did.

On during our first virtual WebEx meeting, we had someone come from a charity called "One Girl". "One Girl" is a charity about raising money for African girls and women to be able to have the resources and money to go to school and get an education. It was fun and a reminder that we are lucky to be able to get an education and have the money to purchase all the resources we need. Our fourth WebEx we had, was a talk about putting things off and procrastinating. The whole session we talked about the steps to stop postponing our priorities. It was fun, entertaining and helpful to all of us who really put many important jobs a side because of procrastinating.

In the last half of the day, we could choose which WebEx to join there were four choices and you got the opportunity to choose two of them. Some of the WebEx’s had guests teaching you what to do and others were teacher run sessions. Personally, my favourite was the meditating where you lay down and listened to what you had to do (e.g. scrunch your face then release). There were also other activities such as dance, weights and rap song writing WebEx’s going on. In the day we also got the opportunity to do something by ourselves from the activity sheet provided. There were several options from baking, drawing, or going out for a run, really anything you could think of. It was an amazing day with so many fun activities especially considering it being online with unpredictable internet.

It was a fun day with helpful information and fun activities. All year 7/8s participated so it was busy and exciting the whole day, with so many opportunities and activities. It was all around an amazing experience. The guests were also very experienced and nice. We also thank the teachers who ran the incredible online WebEx’s.
