Hannah Chan - Sports Captains Report
Last week, the year 9/10 girls competed in the district netball tournament. Despite some girls feeling a little anxious or unprepared, as we had just come back from the holidays, they were able to come together to perform and work well as a team. The result might not have been quite what we had hoped for, however it was also a great opportunity for the girls of different year levels to interact and work hard as a team. A huge thanks to Miss Gray for organising and running a successful and enjoyable day for all the students.
Our year 9/10 Girls Netball team participated in the Inter-school tournament on Thursday, July 15th captained by Kaleeah Hardy-Edwards. All students were fantastic and really improved as a team throughout the tournament, winning their last two games by big margins. They were a real pleasure to coach. Charlotte D’Ath (9D) was unfortunately carrying an injury from the previous days athletics carnival, however demonstrated outstanding leadership, taking on the role of convenor for the tournament. 👏
We took a large team and rotated fairly, having a great day, focusing on fun and participation. Our girls finished 3rd overall, winning 2/4 games. Last year they didn’t get to play, then it was postponed last term, so it was great to see our students be able to get out and have a few games today, being active and connecting socially. I would like to acknowledge our sport coordinator, Tony Todorovski for organising interschool sport and having to rescheduling many of these events to ensure they can go ahead. I would also like to thank Ms Rogneda and our new AFL Trainee, Katelyn Hazlett for all of the lead up planning and assistance with whatever was needed on the day.

Hi Reservoir High School I am one of your 2021 Sports Captains and would like to talk about the 2021 Darebin District Athletics day on Wednesday the 14th of July. It was a day filled with fun hard work and dedication. There were 50 students representing Reservoir High competing on the day, all students who competed tried their best and almost everyone received a ribbon for placing in the top 3. Reservoir competed against Preston High, William Ruthven, Lalor North, East Preston Islamic College, Lalor Secondary College, Northcote High and Thornbury High School.
Even though the weather was freezing and belting down with rain that didn't stop the student's determination bringing home many first second & third places overall. I would like the thank all students who participated and a big thanks to Mr Vass, Mr Forbes, Miss Hazlett, Mr Scarcella Mr Gayfer & Miss Rogneda because day wouldn't be possible without these amazing teachers, and a massive thank you to Mr Todoroski for organizing the whole day and supervising it for all schools. I would also like to thank the Year 9 Advance class for helping on the day making it possible to compete.
Students who came first in the field or short distance track events, and those who finished first and second in the long-distance track events will progress to the Northern Metro Region Athletics events in September, and I can proudly say that the Reservoir high kids and I who advance to the next round can't wait.
