HPE report

Although there have been a few interruptions to our normal school life, there have been a of events still commencing within our Health and Physical education community, we would like to share with you what our students and staff have gotten up to the last term.

What’s been happening end of the last term.

Year 7 and 8 HPE classes have completed their swimming program. This was a five-week program where students learnt a variety of skills within the pool, allowing them to practise and develop their techniques where students were challenged and grouped depending on their ability. Each session was different and was made up of different aspects, some of the focuses were: learning the different strokes and techniques of swimming, survival techniques and how to rescue another swimmer without endangering themselves. It was great to see students participating and stepping out of their comfort zones. Unfortunately, due to the number of lockdowns it was cut a little short, although this was a great opportunity where students to learn new skills or enhance existing skills, it was great to see a majority of students embrace and enjoy all session.

Our lunchtime clubs have been extremely popular over Term 2 continuing to run with great success and participation from a large range of students, promoting physical activity across all year levels.

  • Netball Club – Mrs Gray
  • Badminton Club – Miss Rogneda
  • Table tennis Club – Mr Todorovski
  • Volleyball Club – Mr Simmons

Remember to come down to the stadium to see the yard duty or club teacher with your runners if you would like to get involved!

We are looking forward to seeing you back at school when remote learning concluded… but for now….

Let’s ensure we are keeping physically active even when we are at home. Let’s aim to meet the Australian Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour Guidelines by aiming to be participating in 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per day. We should also try our best to limit our sedentary behaviour where possible, breaking up long periods of sitting down, and limiting electronic media for entertainment of a maximum of 2 hours per day.

Looking forward to seeing your return to school, we can look forward to getting involved in the following sports this term:

  • Basketball.
  • Table Tennis.
  • Hockey.

Please come see me in the stadium office to sign up 😊
