Around the College

Valentines Day

Students received Valentines Day Cards at the College last Friday, 12 February. These cards are part of an exciting new sustainable initiative called Paper Go Round, aimed at supporting local business from our SLT.

Each card was made from both recycled and post-consumer waste paper and embedded with seedlings. When the paper is planted, the seeds grow and the paper composts into the soil.

Library News: The Library in 2021

The school library is a wonderful hub of learning and discovery where all students are welcome.

Other than offering books, computers and resources, the library is a safe space where students are encouraged to think, create and share information with their friends. Respect for other library users and the resources is something we value at our College.

Library opening hours:

  • Monday: 9 am to 4 pm
  • Tuesday: 8:30 am to 4 pm
  • Wednesday: 8:30 am to 4 pm
  • Thursday 9 am to 4 pm
  • Friday 8:30 am to 4 pm
Open daily before school, at recess and lunch

Borrowing is for a month and is unlimited.  We have an extensive collection with lots of fabulous new fiction and non-fiction books waiting for you to read! Become part of our reading community and have lots of fun chats about literature with us.

Book Recommendations:

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

by Rick Riordan (Find me in the fantasy section).

Percy is a normal kid who accidentally vaporizes his maths teacher and finds out he is the son of a Greek God!  He is soon on a steep learning curve – off to demi-god boarding school, battling monsters and generally trying to stay alive. A great start to a great series.

We also have the graphic novel version.

Amulet: The Stonekeeper. Book one

(Find me in the Graphic Novel section)

The series was recommended by one of our new Year 7 boys and is proving to be very popular.

A curse and a family tragedy lead Emily, her younger brother Navin and their mother to move to an ancestral home. Soon after, their mother is kidnapped and the siblings with the help of a mysterious amulet and helper robots need to solve the mystery and rescue their mother. We have the whole series!

We look forward to seeing you in the library soon! Come and find the perfect book for you.
