Conversation Menu: Taking care of ourselves and others in public places

Throughout secondary school, young people navigate a period of significant grown and development characterised by becoming independent.

As part of the freedom they are given, it is important that our students understand how to take care of themselves and others in public places. It can be tricky to find that perfect balance of giving our young people independence whilst establishing boundaries to keep them safe. Young people need guidance as to how they can engage in prosocial behaviours and practise self-care when they’re out independently. This Conversation Menu can help spark a conversation in your family with your children about how they can make their own choices and have their freedom in a safe way. We hope this encourages a positive conversation for your children and family.
