Music Matters

The Music department along with the whole school is relieved that the recent lockdown was brief and we can return to onsite learning. Lessons and rehearsals will continue in a safe manner with well-ventilated rooms, social distancing between students and teachers and good sanitary practices.

YEAR 7 RECRUITMENT

Thank you to everyone who has returned their "Final Selections for Instrumental Music" survey. If you haven’t yet, it’s not too late. You can find it through the link here. Please complete it as soon as possible, to secure your child's position in the instrumental program.

Once we have received your responses, we will contact you with your confirmation of enrolment form and selected instrument. You can then make payment through the event “2021 Yr7 Instrumental Music”. If you haven't tried all the instruments you wanted to try or have any further questions, please indicate this in the last questions of the survey and the appropriate instrumental staff member will contact you as soon as possible.

WIND SYMPHONY: THE FIRST ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM IN 2021

Congratulations to Wind Symphony our senior concert band, who performed at the Year 7 social barbecue on Tuesday, 9 February. The audience of new year 7 parents and students were very supportive and it was wonderful to see the interest building from seeing concert band instruments being played live. After a year of no public performances for Wind Symphony in 2021, it was fabulous to see them play again and welcome back four of our 2020 year 12s to help out, Jordan Barker, Archie Gaffney-Ward, Jolene Ng and Jessica Wong. Their efforts were greatly appreciated and we wish them all the best in their future pursuits.

All ensembles have been back for at least one rehearsal this year and will continue at the times below. Please make every effort to be early to rehearsals so that you are set up and ready to play at the start time.

MUSIC LEVIES ARE NOW OVERDUE

Instrumental Music lessons have begun and instrumental teachers have been asked not to give lessons to anyone who hasn’t paid their Music levy. If you are having difficulty paying your levies, payment plan options are available. When paying on compass if you choose “Payment Plan” you can pay the $350 off in five instalments of $70 over ten weeks. Once a payment plan is in place, lessons can commence. Your cooperation in this matter is very much appreciated.
